This is exactly the kind of tutorial I've been searching for making hats. I was tired of finding a bunch of DIYs that were all about cardstock, craft foam, and hot glue. Thank you for posting this!

Your tutorial was very well done and all aspects were finished in a very clean and strong manner.

Hi. I bought the pattern that this video is for & I'm working on making my second hat from it. You may want to thoroughly re-read the whole thing, as some minor things seem to be missing. One is that neither the heat bond material nor the hat elastic is listed in the needed materials. They are coming out very cute though! I think my main difficulty was reducing the entire pattern by 25% which shrank my seam allowances too much.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the time and quality work you put into it! I can't stand seeing DIY's that they slap things on, glue showing, and don't seem to care on some of them. Beautiful work.

Thanks for your comments. However, all the pieces are to scale and do not need to be reduced 25% . I'll check the materials listed and make sure they're all there. Thanks so much..happy hat making!

Me encantó! Muy bien elaborado, pero para hacerlo en casa dónde se consiguen los patrones y que material se necesita? Además que estén en español.
@LexLaptopCoffee11 жыл бұрын
Yes, I understand they are to scale, but I wanted my hats a bit smaller. I'd be happy to share photos (or maybe I'll video them!) once they're done. I'm making them for my wedding next weekend. Thank you!

I'm not sure I understand the question. Normally, you stitch the bow from behind and if it's flat against the hat, it should be smooth. Maybe pin first so it's easier to stitch on. Thanks.

Hi, You can purchase supplies from my site linked up to etsy. I see everything in small quantities and sized down for lower shipping cost. I can also do up hat kits if that is easier. Thanks.

Very cute! the e-book/pattern is $20 though. For my purpose (one time party wear) I'll have to buy the cheap felt version. Hatheads School of Millinery looks so very interesting though!

I know this is more difficult, but it looks awesome! The only thing is that I found the lighting wasn't great, so it was a bit hard for me to see what exactly was happening in the black parts. But very awesome hat.

I realize your comment is 2 years old, but if it's still helpful - it looks like she used buckram fabric, millinery wire, horse hair braid (maybe 2"), and a double sided fusible like Wonder-Under.
@Izumiorra5 жыл бұрын
@@LunarCrystal07 can i use diffrent materials then what she used?
@LunarCrystal075 жыл бұрын
@@Izumiorra You might be able to get away with using plastic canvas used for embroidery. But you'll still need to bind the rough edges with bias tape or some such equivalent.

It makes it look better when you take it off and show people who may want to pay you to make one for them.
@stephaniehatem8 жыл бұрын
I would also say that depending on how the hat is constructed (aka how well you do), it might be that your hair could get stuck in the edges if you don't line it.

Never ever cut wire with tin snips. It notches the blades and ruins them for cutting sheet metal. Buy wire cutters.This is worse than using fabric sheers to cut paper.
