*Tip: after completing a fold, accentuate the crease using a flat object, such as a ruler. I will write this tip using the acronym ACF (accentuate creased fold)* +Creating the upper rim of the bag+ 1. lay the newspaper so that the "front cover" of the bag is facedown on the surface. 2. 0:41 single fold along the long axis of a page, making sure the "front cover" is still face-down on the outer side of the fold. 3. glue both layers with white glue & ACF. 4. 1:25 fold down about an inch-and-a-half along the edge that was open & ACF (no need to glue). +Forming the body of the bag+ 5. 1:55 with the new crease facing towards you and at the top, fold along the long axis so that the left short edge reaches two-thirds of the way to the right side & ACF. 6. 2:19 fold the right short edge so that it overlaps the left edge about half an inch. ACF & apply white glue to the inner part of the overlapping strip. now, you should have a closed fold with two openings on opposite ends. +Closing the bottom of the bag+ 7. 2:53 with the neatly folded opening (the one that feels thicker) facing the top edge of your working surface, score a margin along the edge of the bottom opening, 1/4 of an inch wide. 8. 3:13 do the same on the backside, using the previous score markings as a reference. 9. 3:34 with the "front cover" facing you and the neatly folded opening at the top, fold the bottom edge inward along the long axis so that it reaches about the halfway mark & ACF. 10. 4:01 inside reverse fold the top and bottom of the right-side flap & ACF 11. 4:30 in the semi-diamond shape created, fold the open edges towards the middle, overlapping in the 1/4 score markings from earlier (the markings should be aligned with the median axis line). 12. 5:18 apply glue to the open "corners" of the diamond and to the overlapping area. ACF carefully so as not to rip the layered paper. you should now have two square diamonds on the right, one on the top right corner of your working surface and another below it. 13. 5:53 fold the bottom and top edges so that, in each diamond (separately), the top and bottom corners meet. make sure to align the edge on side of the neatly folded opening as well & ACF. 14. 6:36 open the folds from the previous step. by carefully inserting your hand into the hollow of the bag, inverse the folds & ACF. + Adding the handles+ 15. 8:04 along one long edge of the opening, mark the location of the handles about 1 inch (ruler-width) from the top edge, and 2 inches from the sides. 16. 8:15 carefully punch holes using a sharp needle, slightly stretching the paper to prevent ripping. make sure to punch through all layers. 17. 8:24 once you have the hole marked, you can enlarge it slightly on both sides. 18. 8:35 thread a piece of string through the holes, from the outside in, and tie knots on either end (the knots should be on the inside).
