I'd be lying if I said I'd never use/need a Cricut, but honestly, I simply like to do most things by hand. Call me old fashioned I guess. So that's why I really appreciated your tutorials - and not just one, but 3 to include different skill levels! Yes! It's so refreshing to see your video amongst the hundreds, even thousands(?) of DIY shadow light box videos using a machine. Just know your work is greatly appreciated - and thank you!

I used your tutorial for the advanced light-box to help create my final piece for my GCSE Art and Design exam which I sat yesterday and today. My design had three layers of trees on either side in the foreground with two men on either side, and a man atop a mountain in the background with his arm outstretched to touch the Moon. I also used a pin to create stars! Your video really helped me out, thank you!

***** That's awesome! I'm glad I was able to help you out :) If you're willing to share it, I'd love to see what you made!

chezlin Sure! I had to adapt idea to meet my exam brief (to make an installation based on one of the senses - my chosen sense being sight) so I put the design inside an enclosed box with a hole drilled through the front for the viewer to look through. I took the photo once I finished cutting the design but before I put it in the box. I posted it on Pinterest if you want to take a look there: uk.pinterest.com/pin/542472717592727023/ :)

What order do the layers on the spirited away one go in? 1-8 or 8-1? (I think it's 1-8 but I thought I should double check before I get ahead of myself.)
@chezlin8 жыл бұрын
The one with the dragon is in the very back... so I believe it's 1 to 8? It should make sense when you start piecing it together :) And you can also do a dry fit (just stack the cut layers on top of each other) first to make sure you have them in the right order and then start gluing ~
@derekxiaoEvanescentBliss8 жыл бұрын
+chezlin (it doesn't really matter which way you glue it because you can invert it in the end right? XD
@Chemeleon157 жыл бұрын
derek xiao Nope, the spirited away version has too many "solid" layers that would block certain details from other layers if inverted. Also the closer something is to the light, the more faded/transparent it is and vice-versa . If the dragon sheet was in front it would be completely black except for the dragon cut-out.

Great tutorial! Lights ->. I notice you have a pretty good size roll of the LED strip. Once you cut off a piece (with power) and you make another shadow box, you will need to cut another piece. My question is if you used the power supply for the first box, how do you supple power to the second strip/box if you cut from the same LED roll? Does the roll come with multiple powered supplies?
