What is the size of the paracord you are using? 550?
@Paracordingaround3 жыл бұрын
Hi, yes it's 550
@lisabates73906 жыл бұрын
So you use 6 inches of cord for the weave? And the weave part will be three inches so you need 9 inches of cord to make the weave? Amount of cord all together to make this would be nice to know.
@Paracordingaround6 жыл бұрын
the 6ft of cord written at the beginning of the video is the total amount cord needed.

Why not make a cord lock from a small piece of paracord instead?
@kathysturm42515 жыл бұрын
Probably would not be adjustable for different size bottle tops

Thanks for this, def want to make this. Does it have to be paracord or could you use a thinner climbing rope, say 4 or 6mm diameter? Also, i have a normal drinks bottle with a little platic loop (as opposed to a plastic throw away bottle), how could i attach a smaller carabiner at one end for bottle attachment & the same carabiner you used for attaching to a bag? Would i just need to put the rope equally through both sides of the smaller carabiner (where you created the loop & then follow same weaving pattern? Thanks
@Paracordingaround6 жыл бұрын
Hi, I'm glad you like it. You can use other types of cord if you wish too, paracord also comes in different thicknesses. Yes you can easily make this with two carabiners instead. i have a tutorial called the Car Clip/Bag holder which may be exactly what you are after, its just made with larger carabiners and a different weave in between. I have added a link to that tutorial in the video description. i would suggest using that video as a guide to join your carabiners, then use this one for making the weave if you prefer this weave instead. I hope that makes sense to you, let me know how you go!
@markbritton64856 жыл бұрын
Paracordingaround yes the car one is exactly what i was on about so will go with that one. Thanks again 👍🏻 just out og curiosity, have you ever had one come undone & would they take a heavy weight (depending on cord thickness?) Thanks again
@Paracordingaround6 жыл бұрын
no worries at all:) I haven't had one come undone so far and I use mine quite frequently. Paracord was originally designed to be used on parachutes which is where it got its name, the breaking strength is about 250kg (550 pounds) so it will take quite a bit of weight. I do suggest sticking with USA made paracord, rather than the china version as the quality is far better, though the china paracord is perfectly fine for making things like bracelets.

Is there a trick to getting the doubled cord thru the lock, I cannot for the life of me getting it to go thru.
@teganclark57074 жыл бұрын
Hi, I use a skewer or something thin to push it through when it doesn't go through. If you have some small pliers that can grab enough to pull the rest of it would work too.
@susanbusbee4 жыл бұрын
tegan Clark thanks, I ended up using a thin piece of yarn, looped it thru the folded loop, stuck it thru the lock, and then I was able to pull the cord thru with that leverage.

Great video. Burning and squeezing the ends appears to look like it would work. However, I think it would be better to take about 1 inch of the tails and weave them back into the braid, then cut, burn and smooch.
