How to Make a Pet Bed

In this video, I'll show you step by step how to sew a soft and cozy bed for your cat, small dog, or puppy. The bed includes a removable cover and inner pillows. So you can easily wash the cover as often as necessary. Our furry friends adore soft and clean things. Hope your pet will enjoy it!

I’m going to try and make this for my textiles project. My dogs have a bed similar except it hasn’t got a cover so I can’t wash it. Hopefully I can make this and replace their old bed 😊

I've made my first attempt at your bed and its looking great. A question though, you use spunbond for the cushions? what are the properties of this...is it waterproof? is that the main reason for using it? Wondered if there was an alternative if I'm not able to purchase this easily?

Hi, Elaine, thanks for watching and interest in my video! Spunbond is a very inexpensive and practical material. Some types of spunbond have water-repellent properties, but it's not waterproof. This material is used to make disposable medical clothes, filters for vacuum cleaners, shopping bags, and much more. I chose spunbond for cushions because it's just cheap and will be hidden under the cover. Probably, in the case of "small surprises" 😉, some waterproof fabric would be a great choice.

Can I ask the inner cushion, it says 18" wide, is that in total and folded in half so total height is 9" or is the total width 36" folded in half to give 18" height?

Hi Claire, thanks for stopping by! The inner cushion has a finished height of about 8" (9" minus 1/2" for allowances on each side). That is, the piece of fabric for the inner side cushion is a 67 "x 18" rectangle. 18" fold in half to give 9" height.

Thank you soo much for this tutorial! That was the kind of pet bed I wanted to make and finally I found a tutorial. :) You cut the circle pieces 21“ in diameter. How big is the bed when its finished? It is slightly bigger than 21“ at the end, isn‘t it?

Hola, con todo respeto, no entendí nada, porque todo es en inglés, además tu vídeo es de 8 minutos, (rapidísimo) no todas sabemos coser, yo ando buscando un vídeo exactamente como el tuyo, y no lo encuentro, todas hacen cojines cuadrados, y yo quiero uno como el tuyo, pero además que sea paso a paso, yo no se si tu entiendas español, pero yo me pregunto...... No pierdes muchas vistas por vídeos en inglés,? aquí en México predomina mucho el español y no podemos compartir algo que no entendamos y mucho menos suscribirnos., tal vez me digas.... hay traducción, la traducción cuando te metes a configuración, es malísima, ponen palabras que nada tienen que ver con lo que tu haces. Que lástima, me gustó tu cama, y casi no hay vídeos que lo expliquen paso a paso, y sobre todo que se entienda. Tal vez si alguien que quiera colaborar contigo y sabe español, puede poner titulos en español , pero que no tampen tu trabajo..Gracias.
