Learn how to make a quiver out of leather with me. I just started learning archery so watch me as I show you how to make a quiver from leather! This hide came from a deer my daughter got. We are not trophy hunters, we hunt to provide meat for our family while at the same time helping with wildlife conservation and management. This quiver design is a hip quiver but can easily adjust into a back quiver. Watch me take it out for a test run on the archery range! No judgements please, I know I'm a SUPER beginner. However, I would LOVE all the help and advice you can offer! Seriously, please :)
Standard quiver size: 20 inches long. Holds approximately 20 arrows

I am getting back into archery after not doing it for 20 years, i grew up shooting fiber glass recurve from 1960s my grandfather had laying around. I have long bow coming in later this week and have started to try and make my own long bow. Love this quiver idea, i was looking for something like this. Thanks

Perfect. That is exactly what I'm wanting to make. I literally just finished fleshing out the hide from a Buck I harvested with a bow a few days ago. As far as getting consistent with your shots, and you probably already know this, but the exact same anchor point every time is most important. Pick a spot on your face, ie corner of mouth or jaw notch, and release the arrow when your finger hits that spot. That and practice, practice, practice. Instinctive shooting requires far more skill than a compound with a front sight and back peep hole. I'll probably cut out some plastic from a 5 gallon bucket to use on the bottom of my quiver. Super light and the broadheads won't puncture it.

@@TheLittleBlackShadeTree Thanks again. It took me a while to get to the this project on my "list", but I did it and it came out really good. Just in time for my special draw hunt on McAAP. A site that has massive bucks and you can only use long bows or recurve bows. I'll be putting the quiver through it's first hunt this coming Friday.

Hi loved watching your video the quiver in nice looking, I use a back quiver in my archery, and also have a side quiver when I want a change ,the first thing I would say is if your having on your back have it up closer to your shoulder and just tilted forward a small amount, one other top cut a small but of wood the size of the bottom of the quiver and glue a magnet to this and put it at the bottom of the quiver it will hold the arrows in if you need to bend over to pick up an arrow from the ground or the targets happy shooting and will look forward too seeing your next video John

I don't know anything about making quivers, but I do know that when you make an axe or knife sheath, you put a an extra piece of leather between the two edges that are going to be stitched/rivited together. It's called a welt, and the purpose is to prevent the blade from slicing into your stitching or cutting through the body of the sheath. I imagine a thick circular piece of leather glued to the floor of your quiver will do a better job than some foam at protecting the bottom from being poked through (especially if you intend on using it for hunting).

@TheLittleBlackShadeTree
@TheLittleBlackShadeTree 2 жыл бұрын
That’s awesome! No, my first has not fallen off over time. If you have a hide and the fur starts to come off, it means the leather has gone bad and it wasn’t properly preserved. It’s happened to me a couple times but this quiver has held up well.

1 - Use leather shears to cut the hide. 2 - Instead of a PVC pipe, use a bundle of 10 or so arrows. That way it's a tight fit and arrows won't fall out while hunting. 3 - Look up 'speed shooting' and 'dakota quiver'.

Hi You formed your quiver around a pvc pipe which works out because you can get a cap for that pipe at the store and push it down into your quiver as a protective bottom, then add the foam in the pvc cap to reduce noise and rattling.👍

When you go to release your bow don’t really try to let go of your boat more so relax your fingers as you’re pulling your hand back more and then as you get used to that you can get like a steady flow or the release is the same every time which will equal a more accurate shot

She is a dead ringer for Liberty Doll? The more you do it the better you will get,....great Quiver and great video. With archery 35-40 for off season you would want a little more for hunting. But Ted Nugents wife hunts with a 38# compound bow. Legal bow hunting poundage may change from state to state. I'm hearing women get complete pass through's with 40# bows,.....I'd say depends on the bow. I had a 40# bow that shot better than my 45# bow. I use the old 6 wheel Fred Bear Bows they are cheap on ebay and strings are about free compared to new bow that have a $300.00 dollar string that they have to put on. You may draw What ever poundage it may be,....see they are select poundage,...but they have a let off so your not holding as much poundage. If you draw 50 pounds the target gets hit with 50 pounds. With a recurve or long bow you draw you draw 50 the poundage stacks and feels heavier and you hit with less poundage I forget how much. Archery is a great hobby there's even crossbows hard and cumbersome to cock and carry but will shoot great. The best 6 wheel Fred Bear is the Bear Pollar II they take down by limb bolts and the strings are easy to change that way and their Light,...The other 6 wheelers are great too just a little heavier and a little trickier and harder to change the string. Both shoot like a longbow you can shoot them instinctively with out sights or with sights. When the cable is of 2 wheels I forget its like 25#- 35#,.....the 2 wheels are adjustable in like more poundages,.... some you select 50- 55-60,.......others you select ABCDEF Whitetail hunters But who knows they made them for years look it up.
