Thanks for your kind words! I usually don’t get replies back. Please think of them locking locks for your rod holders an storage compartments. I bought an old boat back in June an bout all the hardware on my storage an rod compartments are gone. Thank you sir!

Hey can you think of some kind of box thingy that goes in the back of the boat to hold onboard charger an all the batteries? I have a 1993 javelin that I bought in June of this year an the batteries slide everywhere an the onboard charger is just hanging on a plastic Tupperware thing. I’m in desperate need of a good fix for this if you don’t care to mull it over. I love your channel I watch it everyday,an I believe if someone can think of something you can! Thanks!

But there nice if I had welder again mine was taken when my dad passed just little wire welder but being disabled all these years if I needed something ide try to make it or do without. My money went to my daughter and my fishing group. Even my rides I tryed to do trades so it didn't cost as much. Or ide sell my stuff till I had enought then get it. But yea years ago ide made them in heart beat and prob sold also get my money back 2 to 5 dollars for me. Never made much on what I sold. But great vidoe again for the first time dude perfect. @FishinNStuff5 жыл бұрын
I would have to disagree with you there 2 dollars for the 3/8s rod and 6 dollars for the plasti dip is hardly costing you more than 22 , but that 22 dollars gets you an awesome product, but it's still not cheaper.

First I wanna say thanks for you posting your awesome video on how to replicate the monster rod holder. I don't want to post negative stuff. I subscribed after watching the video. I put some value on my time. Gallon of plasidip is $60. Never thought the aerosol cans would give a good result. I just hate buying something and the majority goes to waste. I like to see the methodology people with more experience fabbing go about projects like this. I have a mig, torches,2ft square steel plate, big vise and a swing press (bfh)for small projects. I believe in K.I.S.S. but I sometimes drag the kitchen sink with me anyway in more ways than one. Especially when going fishing. I still like my machete rod holder maker too.

Just a friendly heads up guys...When welding on galvanized steel, you have to ventilate or be in an open area. The fumes released from the zinc coating are very toxic.

If by chance you do get Galanized poisoning, you will get a migraine commonly as well as your muscles will feel very tense. I learned from a 80 year old man with about 60+/- years of fabrication, drink a glass of milk before hand. It'll reduce the chance but please, do be smart and take a few seconds to put on a respirator or mask of some sort at the least and open doors. Turn on fans.

That turned out real good. I like how you made those tops taller. I've had the same thought at times just looking at the angle and wondering if the rod would come out if I got a hit at just the wrong angle. So far it hasn't happened, but I've definitely looked at it and worried a little bit. I guess you could put some kind of stop around a post to keep the rod from sliding all the way up to the top and slipping over but longer is easier if you're making them yourself from scratch. Once again, you DIY a winner! Oh, does your wife know you're playing around with fire in the garage? 😂👍💯

if you find you get a crack in the weld where it joins to the stainless bolt you will want to change to a stainless steel electrode. Typically you use a 309L or 316L material when joining stainless steel to carbon steel. Sometimes welding with carbon steel filler on stainless steel will cause it to crack due to dilution.

Do you have a DIY video on building a 10 rod holder for a receiver hitch that will accommodate a 70 qt cooler and a large Plano tackle box?

Great video..I’m making myself 3 rod holders but you said the bottom bend is 60 and the top bend is 60..I was wondering what is the middle bend..I would if you could help me out with that answer
@FishinNStuff2 жыл бұрын
I thought I said on the video . Hmm I'm pretty sure the middle Is 45
@mikemorefield7885 Жыл бұрын
Do you by chance remember the measurements of your bends? Going to try to make some of these.
@Chris-ei7iz Жыл бұрын
If you almost lost a rod out of a monster rod holder you should figure out how to make look down on the end of one that you can remove quickly so that a fish or if you get hung on something rod won't come out .
@bareavis4 жыл бұрын
Would an oxyacetylene torch work better for heating the rod?
@FishinNStuff4 жыл бұрын
It might work a little faster than map gas , definitely better than propane
@bareavis4 жыл бұрын
@@FishinNStuff Thanks. Great video!
@Scott.Farkus4 жыл бұрын
I should have used 3/8" rod, and I should have used MAPP gas instead of propane, and I should have mounted my jig to something solid, and I need to build a press brake, because the way I tried to do it was HARD.
@bigdaddy54694 жыл бұрын
With the finished product how much cold rolled did it take per rod holder ? I really enjoy all your videos .
@FishinNStuff4 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure , that one was just an experiment so lol , I'm thinking just under 3 foot maybe . I cut it a little on the long side because I'd never bent one before , but used the excess I cut off as the cross pieces so it was ok .I really thank you for watching buddy . I think when I bought that rod I paid 47 cent a foot sho I figured 1.50 wasnt too bad . It took a whole can of plastidip spray for 1 rod holder so that's 6 dollars
@briantownsend18666 ай бұрын
Did it take the full 4 and a half foot of rox for that one holder?
@dylanpeck40285 жыл бұрын
What was the measurements of the 3 bends you marked?
@FishinNStuff5 жыл бұрын
I'll check and let you know , because I didnt measure . I did however check the angles because I had to check em as I bent em . I'll check the measurements for you buddy
@FishinNStuff5 жыл бұрын
Ol sorry I forgot I meant to tell you . I laid it beside the monster and marked the bent lines that's why I'm not sure
@dylanpeck40285 жыл бұрын
Yeah i figured thats how you did it.. If you dont mind measuring them that would be great.. Just built your break for my press and getting a jig made..

I know this is an older video now but couldn't you dip them in hdpe? Get an old pot from the scrapyard and melt a bunch of milk jugs and dip the holders.. or for different colors you could use 5 gallon buckets
@FishinNStuff2 жыл бұрын
If you can melt plastic in something, I'd say yes . But the rubber will give you a better grip on your rods
