Thanks for making this tutorial! Made one - I added locknuts and a washer on the outside to help the chain move a little better. With your video, I was inspired to make a two hand version with a 12” pipe nipple, drill hole in the middle, add 1/2” eye bolt, two pvc handles, then can get away with pvc caps which are cheaper. Would post a pic if I could.

I've seen a few different Rolling Thunder designs and this one not only looks really good, it's easy to make compared to some other designs I've seen. Thanks.

Thank you Ninja Gaiden. I made this myself and it works great. The plumbing supply customers mentioned that it wasn't new years eve yet, when they saw my encapsulated steel nipple purchase haha

I bought the Titan Fitness version for $50 on Amazon, worth every penny. Something to consider if you're not that handy with tools.

I made one with a 6” long piece of 1” iron pipe (outside diameter ~1 1/4”) and a 5 1/2” long piece of 1 1/2” iron pipe as the “rolling” handle, which has an outer dia. of ~2 1/8”. Then welded a couple of eye bolts on each end of the 1” inner pipe and a short pice of chain on those. Sanded and smoothed the outside of the inner and inside of the outer pipes and I keep it slightly oiled and it rolls very easy.

Good work, really nice idea. Half my gym stuff is weird and homemade and works just fine.

This is pretty clever. I do have one issue with the lack of accuracy for not drilling out the holes centered on the end caps. By being offset, this will allow the center sleeve to always fall down in the position with the holes towards the ground. I'm not 100% sure on how this will affect the PVC wanting to roll if it will still work the same, be easier, or harder, but this was still a pretty good DIY project.

Nice video man, I just made one out of 2" dowel that I had painted and some 2" pvc like you used. I drilled holes in the dowel and fed some cable thru I had laying around and clamped em. I imagine someone could use some paracord and just feed it thru and tie a washer or nut to each end and make it even cheaper. Happy to see yours didnt make it noticably easier than the official one bc I was pleased with what I could lift on mine, so hopefully I'm at that same weight with an official one

I will comment on this video to say a few things, firstly let me start off by saying I enjoy how quick you were to get to the point of the video. (no 25 minutes talking about idk gardening and why your pet dog tried to invade Iraq) secondly, a little critique would be even tho you were very precise in saying what you purchased and the price a list in the description is always nice. and to finish I hope you garner some luck in growing your channel I will definitely be subscribing to your channel.

Good job! Thanks for posting. I'm going to use this to make my own - but I might try an 8" nipple instead. The lighting and overall video quality is just fine. Much better than average, I'd say. I agree with the other comments - you got right to the point, gave us a good parts and price list (the shot$ from the store was a nice touch), and you turned out a good product. I appreciate that the camera didnt bounce all over the place, and there wasn't a lot of workshop noise. Question - Does it spin as freely as you'd like? You might sand the nipple and lubricate it with powdered graphite for a smoother rotation?? But be careful with the threads. I made a steel mace and some indian clubs, and as the sandpaper wore out on some unusually sharp threads, it tore through and sliced my (gloveless) fingers.

Unfortunately, I have none of the tools needed to work with and not very handy with it either. The one you made does look pretty dope and I like that better since it uses chain. I would gladly pay you to make me one and shipping cost too.

Why does it have to spin? Please explain some benefits. I'm just wondering. & Thx for your tutorial!!! 🥸✌️
