Enjoy the video! I just looked on amazon, there are quite a few parabolic mirrors for sale if you don't have a telescope.

Hi Tanner, I just started my first year at uni studying Electronic Engineering. I just wanted to say thanks for being an inspiration for me since day one.

I've seen Schlieren Photography before but never explained as well as you did. Very cool video, thanks.

Thanks for making this guide. I'm going to build one to visualize shockwaves from a cold gas thruster

I’ve never heard this technique before, very cool

You know whats crazy? You know how you used to go to the electronics warehouse? Turns out that place is right next to where I live! I have gone 4 times since I found out about the store. Maybe ill see you there one day lol. Anyways, great video and good luck with MIT. God bless!

Thanks for the video-- this looks pretty achievable, I'll have to try it.

Subscribed. Great video and images! Your setup was top tier and I really love how you pointed out the open windows effect on the image. Makes me rethink how stable my environment is =P

I've tried this with a cheap magnifying mirror from a thrift store and got fairly decent results! Nowhere near first surface mirror quality, but for $4 I'm happy.

I think I’ve accidentally done this somehow. With a pinhole camera maybe.

If your light source is at the center of curvature, a spherical and not a paraboloidal mirror works better... slightly.

I have a question about the deflection coils and yoke out of a CTR television could I use the yolk as a one-to-one Transformer with the coils and all would it make a power transformer If you know anything about this I can't find anything online about whether you can do this or not
@TannerTech3 жыл бұрын
I don't think so sadly. Most yokes do not have an iron core(needed for transformers). Even if they did, these coils are made for high frequencies of 28 khz or something around there. Perhaps give it a try with audio or something, just don't put 110v ac across it haha

Sorry man, What kind of mirror I need for Schlieren technique? Simply parabolic?

@@TannerTech kind of all of it, I've seen other videos and it's like, yeah cool, but I felt like it might have helped to see the set up side on or something, maybe it was just my brain saying its hard to follow
