This is so cute and original! I know several people who would love this. It would also be cute to add some white pearl beads.

I love this! You always make such unique items. I have to try this! I’ve never tried any crochet with a zipper so this will be fun! Thank you for sharing and explaining everything so clearly! Brilliant!

Adorable! I'm a new subscriber and I am just loving your videos. I am going to have to modify the pattern so I can use a bigger hook and thicker yarn. I'm legally blind, so I need to use thicker yarn. Hopefully that is ok and not offensive to you. You have a great channel!

Thank you! It is OK to modify the pattern for your own use, as long as you aren't reselling or republishing it as your own design. (I have had people try to do that at times, even though it is illegal.) So yes, you are welcome to change the pattern to meet your needs. Thanks for subscribing!

On attempt #3 on this. I am hoping to get it this time around. Can you explain the end part in more detail. Not quite sure how the bottom of the shell goes. It is t clear. Thx

Hi! Have you tried following along with the step-by-step photos on my blog as well as the video? The blog post with the written pattern shows photos of how the whole shell is constructed, with arrows on where to put your stitches: yayforyarn.com/seashell-coin-purse-free-crochet-pattern/ I hope this helps!

I’ve tried making this 3 different times and can’t seem to get it. I’m getting mixed up on the bottom, narrow part. I’m also wondering if a back post crochet would work vs, the reverse slip stitch (although, I am able to do that now that I’ve practiced it). The 3rd time I tried making it, I used the written pattern and the video. I still want to make one because it is so cute. I’ve made seashells before, seahorses, mermaids, etc, so I know I should be able to make it. Maybe I should try it one more time.

Hi Mimi! What part of the pattern are you having trouble with? If you could let me know what row or section you are on, I would be better able to explain. And yes, post stitches could give a similar effect as the row of reverse slip stitches, but in this case, the reverse slip stitch is necessary because it also gets you back to the outside edge of the shell to work the next row. Thanks!

Yay For Yarn I’m having trouble with row 21. I’ve got the reverse stitches down. The very bottom of the shell doesn’t look quite right. I may need to print it out and read it out loud when nobody is around. LOL. I just think this is so adorable. I love your innovative ideas!

Thank you Mimi! I can see how that row could be confusing. I have slightly rewritten the written pattern so Row 21 is broken down into steps. If you let me know what step you are on, I could rewrite that step a little to make it more clear. Please let me know if that helps!

Yay For Yarn Yay!!!! Breaking it down worked! I’m so happy! Thank you for helping me! Now I just need to go out and get a zipper. Hats off to you and your super talent!
