Also a big YES from my side for further tutorials ! Btw - You could use/connect the MOD CV Output of the Keystep to connect e.g the Filter of the Behringer and open/close the filter with the Modulation Touch Pad. The Mod output is just another control voltage you can use for other B2600 parameters.

@@ionian8606 Hello Ian, I have seen a patch somewhere addressing the Keystep Mod CV output to the Behringer 2600 LFO depth via the Touch pad control. To be honest I don’t quite remember the patch at the moment. It required some cabling with the voltage processor. I have to google it again. I am sure there’s also a way to do this via midi. I have to look up the Midi settings on the Barp and the Keystep. That’s actually a good topic for another tutorial….

Vielen Dank Ralph ! Just a note for those like me who followed the directions but did not manage to make the gate work properly : Be CAREFUL to pull up the slider knobs EXACTLY as ralph is showing on the video, in the right side, ie : bring VCF(Audio) and AR(Cntrl) all the way UP (VCA section), and the VCA(Audio) slide UP as well (Mixer Section). (I scratched my head for about an hour before realizing I was bringing UP the VCF up but not the VCA, hence the gate trigger having absolutely no effect 😅) I am still struggling to have the same setup now but with the ADSR section though - still getting weird behaviour. I guess I'll figure it out after sticking to it for some time (still rusted after a couple of years away from synthesis )

Some kind of logic "AND" situation with a clock pattern and a note event/trigger? Also can you not just mult the gate to the trigger with a splitter? Or does the trigger need to be of a smaller length (as the name implies)? Then I would need to convert the gate to a trigger somehow.... maybe there is something on the 2600 that can do this? I need to read up on the 2600 more! thanks again!

Hi Pete, kindly also try the procedure which I explain in this tutorial here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g4XJYmN-ZbCKerc I have never used the sequencers you are talking about. Sometimes certain gear is just not compatible with the 2600 for no apparent reason. For instance the Microbrute Gate is 10V, enough for the 2600. Nevertheless it doesn't work. Some google research revealed that the Microbrute Gate doesn't trigger the envelopes of certain ADSR modules.

Hello Kriptek, please watch this video here too kzbin.info/www/bejne/g4XJYmN-ZbCKerc That’s another way to make an external sequencer connection to the 2600. The 182 sequencer has a +5V Gate. Try both ways for the connection. The Behringer 2600 usually requires a +10V Gate, but depending on the 182 Trigger/Gate output it may work. If not then you need a Voltage Converter Module or you can also try to dabble with the 2600 Preamp to boost the signal. @@RalphBaumgartl Finally I went with the CVs and I kind of like it more because it is how the original was designed for..... I tried to connect a BeatStep Pro directly the Pitch to the ARP's KeybCV with an external passive multi (just one of those plastic cv port replicators that looks like an asterix) and didn't worked. I guess the ARP's MULT converts the BeatStep Pro voltage to what the ARP understands...... So, I use the plastic replicator and only one out from the ARPs MULT... and then to each OScillator... and works great. That leaves 2 empty but unusable ports, because they already contain the Pitch signal.... so the question: Is there a way to Not use the MULT input on the ARP2600?? and just an external replicator? ...then I would be leaving the MULT empty to use on another patch.

There's only one VCF - VCA signal path on the 2600. You can route the VCO's separately through the VCF and VCA and then feed them separately into the mixer, but they are still going to be triggered by the same Gate. To have true independence you need external modules or 2600 Synth. Greetings, Ralph

What is the usage of the KEYB CV in the FM control area?
@RalphBaumgartl
@RalphBaumgartl 2 ай бұрын
When you connect a MIDI controller to the B2600 the Pitch is sent to the VCO's internally. When you connect a Keyboard or Sequencer to B2600 via CV and Gate, you have to plug the Pitch (CV) signal into KEYB CV slots of the VCO's. This will break the internal Pitch connection and replace it with the CV signal. Greetings, Ralph

@@RalphBaumgartl Thanks a lot for your crystal clear explanations, by the way the video is really well done about those explanations. My question was about the "other" KEYB CV that you find below the KEYB CV of VCO1. Just below the KEYB CV entry of VCO 1, you have 4 plugs : TRIG OUT, UPPER VOICE, GATE OUT and.... KEYB CV ! My question was about that one, the manual not being very clear about it, what is the usage of that "other" KEYB CV? The receipt you show works perfectly, and needs to use the MULT to split the signal into the KEYB CV of each oscillator. I thought the other KEYB CV I mention here above would have an effect on all the oscillators, but this is not the case. In fact, I don't understand what is the usage of that "other" KEYB CV I menton here above (near TRIG OUT, UPPER VOICE, GATE OUT section)... :-)

I also tried CV-ing it from a Poly D and from a Roland SH 101, with the same results...playing an octave sounds like a 4th or 5th. This sounds similar to playing my EMS synthi (1.3 V/Oct, so doesn't play octaves without scaling).

Try to use the VCO's individually. If they hold the tune then there might be a problem with the multiple jacks. There could be a cable problem as well. If one VCO doesn't hold the pitch when you check it individually then there might be a problem with the CV input....

@@RalphBaumgartl Solved! It was a cable problem. That was the last thing I would have suspected. Many thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Why did you connect the blue ‘gate‘ cable to the S/H input of the AR generator while there is a dedicated ‘gate in‘ jack right next to it?
@RalphBaumgartl
@RalphBaumgartl Ай бұрын
If you go via the dedicated "Gate In" Input (AR envelope) then you also have to send Trigger signal into the "Trig In" input in order to trigger the ADSR and AR Envelopes. Kindly watch this video here as well: kzbin.info/www/bejne/g4XJYmN-ZbCKerc

Ralph does it respond to changing octaves?

Yes it does! But it depends on the features of the controller you want to connect.

Im not sure I understand, I want to sync the 2600 to the behringer rd-6. Should I use the trigger out or the sync out. The voltage of the trigger out is +15v for the sync out it says trs more than 2.5v. shouldn't it be ts?
@RalphBaumgartl
@RalphBaumgartl Жыл бұрын
If I were you I would do the syncing via a Master Midi Clock. In my personal opinion that's the easier way to do it. Greetings, Ralph

Since the keystep has a MIDI out anyway, my interest would be to use it to control other settings, such as filter, while I’m controlling the pitch via MIDI, or possibly using it for one oscillator and controlling the other(s) via MIDI to get a small bit of polyphony. Is this possible using both CV and MIDI simultaneously?
@RalphBaumgartl
@RalphBaumgartl 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it can be used simultaneously But the Behringer 2600 manual doesn't say anything about Midi CC.

@@RalphBaumgartl Yes, the MIDI implementation on the 2600 is bare bones. I use a LinnStrument to control mine which allows me to easily and accurately glide between pitches, but outside of finger vibrato, there is little else I can do with the controller, however, if I can use a keystep via CV to further control dynamics, or filters, or a 2nd voice at the same time, then it’s worth buying one.

@@mudsharkbytes With the Keystep you could use Midi for notes and CV/Gate to module various modules of the B2600. The B2600 has a duophonic mode which can be used by just connecting a Midi controller. Nevertheless you should read up on all the features of the Keystep before you commit yourself to it. Just to make sure it's what you are looking for.

@@RalphBaumgartlI’ve needed a replacement for my Korg microKontrol for some time now as it’s not supported very well by much of anything these days anyway, and Sweetwater has knocked the price down some so I can’t see a downside. If it didn’t have the CV outputs, which I can also use with my Neutron, I probably wouldn’t’ve bought one.

Why override SH input and not using the GATE or TRIGGER inputs + the switch?
@RalphBaumgartl
@RalphBaumgartl Жыл бұрын
On the B2600 you have to send a Gate and Trigger signal simultaneously to make it work. I explain it in this video here kzbin.info/www/bejne/g4XJYmN-ZbCKerc

What is the easiest way to get multiple voices happening.... like OSC 1+2 for bass or chords then 3 for a melody.... do I need multple midi devices with CV... Or is there some other way to do it

Feed a different CV (Pitch) signal to each VCO. Bear on mind that the 3 VCO's still share the same VCF - ADSR - VCA signal path.
