@beadaholique12 жыл бұрын
There are so many different types of cord that are called "gimp" that I'm not sure which type you are asking about. I haven't tried a twisted braided cord for this type of knot work. You could definitely experiment with it. I do know that most smooth cords will work. You'll also want to be aware of how thick your cords are because your work could get quite bulky, and you'll want to make sure that your beads will fit over your center cord.

@beadaholique12 жыл бұрын
Do you mean that you'd like to add a bead to the end of the cord that sticks out from the knotted clasp? If you'd like to do that, you'll need to make sure that you leave a long enough piece of cord to tie some extra knots into it. Tie an overhand knot about 2" from the end of the sliding knot clasp, add your bead, and then tie a second overhand knot after the bead.

Thank you for the helpful video. I'm using Chinese knotting cord and although the knots are coming out fine, after 3 or 4 they begin to twist and look like a DNA strand. Any suggestions for keeping them flat?
@beadaholique10 жыл бұрын
If you do not alternate whether your first string goes over or under the main portion, your knots will twist. It should alternate between over, over, under, through, and under, under, over, through.

The length of cord you would need would depend on the thickness of the cord, the size of the beads, and the desired length of the finished bracelet. You may need to experiment. You can find step by step instructions for one example of this type of bracelet on our free beading projects page at Beadaholique. For that bracelet, which has 6 beads, I recommended 18" center cords and 3' outer cords.

This is somewhat confusing. It would be best if lengths of cord were added at the beginning. Also how it's going to look when finished.
