That colour effect works really well I was convinced there wasn't room for it.

If you remember the original, 2 playing cards were put on the glass behind some trim and a pencil would be pushed through the 2 playing cards and the glass. While you were removing the cards you would slide the glass back into position.

It seems it could be made so that the glass is inserted/removed from the long edge but still slides vertically. I'm not sure if that would be more or less convincing.
@letsmakemagic82336 ай бұрын
I think that would be a better way. Wish I'd thought of it.

I reckon that instead of the BBQ stick, you could place a piece of metal in the frame and, in the base have two magnets, one on each side and placed one above the other. As you slide the frame down to the bottom, the bottom magnet pulls the metal pin out. When you pull the frame up, the other magnet pulls the pin back into position to lock the glass.
@cbnewham_ai7 ай бұрын
Indeed, thinking about it some more, two metal tabs that slide horizontally to block the glass, with the same magnets pulling them one way or the other as the frame is inserted or extracted from the base. If you wanted to get even more technical, there's probably a way to allow those hinged doors to raise our lower the glass. Sorry - just being devious. It's a great trick as you currently have it!
@cbnewham_ai7 ай бұрын
Indeed 2. The bottom magnets could be in one door. In that way you won't even see the glass lowered until the door is closed. My one worry about this as it stands is that if the audience were in any position where the glass reflects something then they will see you've lowered it. If it can be done when the door is already up then that problem disappears ( just like the glass! 😄 )
