Great video. Thank you. I'm just learning silversmithing. I fell in love with the process in college after taking two courses and always wanted to get back to it. Your video was very informative and easy to follow and gave me a lot of good ideas I haven't yet learned. I just made a two prong ring shank ring and spent a lot more time than I needed to filing and sanding the prongs. I can see that it would have looked good without.

When you come to the sawdust part, what if your stone is translucent and not opaque? What would you do to level/raise it in that case?

I use some fine silver wire, just a ring around the inside of the bezel (sterling may tarnish and there is no way to polish it after your stone is set). If your stone is set unevenly you can place wire on just one side. No need to solder it in. The size of wire depends on how much you want to raise it.

Is it a kitchen detergent or a non foaming detergent for jewellery similar to that which is used in jewellery tumblers? another question: I see that you have a little square-ish container containing a yellowish liquid. I used to use one as a dispenser for soft solder resin flux remover years ago but I haven't seen one for ages. Would you mind telling me where you got it please?

Joy soap is dishsoap. It is harder to find this brand, but it seems to work better than others for jewelry. The square container I bought from Rio Grande Jeweler's supply. Don't buy the cheap one. Go for the more expensive one.
