Instead of waiting 10-20 seconds for the error message to pop up when u can't connect guys u can just do this for a quicker message. try { if(Jet.Connect(out Jet)) { Message box here } catch { MessageBox.Show("Error"); } The try and catch causes it to pop up quicker.

Ye I agree, can also throw an exception to show why you got the error for things other that connection.
