How to make a simple electric carousel toy

I have several designs for making electric roundabout/carousels in primary schools. This is the simplest and I run D&T workshops to make them with Yr5/6 regularly. It still spins too fast - it really needs a second pair of pulleys to slow it down further if it is to avoid the attention of the toy Health & Safety police!
I can just about get 30 (undecorated) carousels working in 90 minutes.
There is plenty of scope for decorating the finished toy after I've gone and inspiration can be found by Googling images of 'Fairground Rides', 'Victorian Fairgrounds' etc..
This design is available as a classpack and I can also supply a slightly more complicated version with 2 pairs of pulleys as a kit.

? The pulley on the rubber band how many circles you use 2 are 3 . Do you put the rubber band in between the pulley on the straw

To change the speed, change the size of the pulleys (wheels). Either make the one on the motor larger, or make the one on the carousel smaller.

Erkan Yesilkan I think you could do double gearing. Combine the big grooved disk with a small disk and another set of rubber bands and feed that small disk to another big disk. Then the kids get an even better understanding of gearing ratios and also even place value. The ones, tens, and hundreds place.
