Great almost silent video, I like this style. I wish drying time was really that fast! I like the solid nature of the block that can be wiped clean. There a some that have lips, grooves and really industrial looking, crud catchers, I could put a handle on them and sweep my yard for nails.

Can I ask why you did the epoxy after putting the finish on? Wouldn't it have been cleaner to glue the magnets in, then sand the excess away, then poly?
@Codex0nz Жыл бұрын
I'd speculate it's so the wood doesn't absorb any epoxy so less sanding would be required overall

Hey I'm a Maker I believe it is called a key hole bit. I’ve used them before in a vertical application before but never in a horizontal fashion. Would work just as well unless someone slid the holder sideways and it came off the wall (unlikely) unless you had kids that knew this 😂😂😂 then all bets are off. Haha

I enjoy your content ! Question-a couple of years back you posted a video of the installation of a wind turbine on your farm. What have been the benefits and what were the disappointments? I live on a family farm-500 acres with a perfect hilltop layout where barn is located for a wind turbine. The goal is to create off grid capability. We have a good well also. Have you considered installing an array of solar panels in conjunction with the wind power generated from turbine? Curious to know if the costs of the turbine have been repaid through energy created. Your thoughts? Thank you !!!
@Simplelittlelife5 жыл бұрын
Thank you! That was a multi blade windmill we installed and technically they’re different than what is considered a wind turbine. The multi-blade is better for work that requires higher torque/heavier loads like a water pump. That’s what we used it for at my dads place. I wish I could help but other than research I have no experience with wind turbines 👍

Cool idea, I have a couple of the 40cm long bar magnet knife holders, after seeing this, the ugly magnets are going into the back of some nice hardwood. Cheers.
@christianh11715 жыл бұрын
I would suggest testing this first before committing. The magnetic pull force diminishes with distance really quickly. 2mm or something hardwood between the knife and the magnet, and you'll lose something like 70% of the force. If there's also less friction between the wood and your current knife holders, the knives will fall off super easily, or won't hang at all. I've made these magnetic knife board things before, and used 20mm x 5mm with a pull force of 6.4kg last time. Using said magnet, with 2mm wood between the magnet and a knife, that's 2.04kg force. With a friction coefficient of 20%, it will hold a 408g knife. For reference, increasing it to 3mm wood, it can hold a 280g knife.
@chrisosh95745 жыл бұрын
@@christianh1171 I'll definitely test it first, the bars I have stick to the metal bench leg so strongly , it takes a screw driver to pry them off. I'm not keen on the magnets but if they work set into hard wood they will be used, otherwise they get relegated to my workshop as tool holders.
