Once again, you asked for it, you've got it. Viewer Terry McClean asked "is there any chance of getting the dimensions of the extraction tool that you used to tap out the carbon brush tubes? I'd like to separate the housing from the field coil for thorough cleaning"
Here ya go Terry, I made a new one as my original was getting a bit ragged. Here's how I did it...
As for my choice of material, Ultra High Molecular Weight plastic (UHMW), it can be expensive if you buy new, but there are lots of people selling what basically amount to scrap sized pieces on ebay for very little money. Just do a search for UHMW Plastic and you'll find a bunch.

Great idea. I made one out of a piece of HDPE I had laying around. People could probably use plastic cutting boards for this, as well. It worked really well. I think a piece of 1/4" key stock would also work if you were careful. I can get a foot of 1/4" brass square stock for $3.53 / ft. at the local metal supply. I may have to make a formal tool out of brass stock turned down and threaded for a knob handle. It also looks like rewinding the stator on these motors would be extremely easy. The armature might be another story. I don't know how common it is to have one burned up.

Amazing, it’s like you knew I needed that right now. Because of the head injury from a distracted driver hitting me as I was turning into my driveway in August I have lost knowledge and the ability to work on sewing machines which is super frustrating and I’m praying it’s temporary. Just hours before that accident I had purchased reasonably a singer 15 -91 which was in my van when I got hit. The cabinet was damaged and so far I don’t think the machine was. with some TLC it seems to be OK. I do know however that the motor is going to need maintenance including the brushes. Any and all help that you can give information about restoring a potted motor will be immensely appreciated; anything I knew I seem to have forgotten but my therapist says it will be good therapy for me to get back at it as much as I’m able. I’ve been a bit afraid to tackle the machines since the accident; not wanting to do more harm than good. Knowing I have a source is fantastic. crazy question, which machines used potted motors? okay that was answered in first 30 seconds of video ... duh....I need to research motors. Like which motors they used first and how they progressed. Personally, I think I enjoy the machines without motors 😂😂😂 I think they're easier to fix, but that's crazy talk! 🤪

I've done 5 motors using a 1/4" craftsman socket extender. 6th one not so lucky; cracked the plastic housing. Probably time to make something that is more precise. Do you know any sources for the plastic?

Unless you want to buy a large quantity, check ebay for UHMW plastic. You'll find a lot of people selling small size pieces for a few bucks. I saw a 1/2"x2"x12" piece recently for about $5.00. Just have to keep an eye out...
