In my experience with spray paint, it's best to avoid mixing different brands if you can since the paints and finishes are formulated to work best with their brand counterparts, that may have been why the other lacquer screwed up the mask

The problem could also have been that one or more layers of paint on the mask hadn't dried fully when you applied the sealer; its something people frequently run into with models and miniatures if they apply the sealer coat before everything has had a chance to fully dry. Some times it can be corrected with subsequent layers of sealer; assuming you're using the same type (i.e. lacquer/enamel/acrylic etc) it will usually at least partially reactivate the previous layers enough that the haze or frosting disappears.

i like this one a lot, the color really does make it look like an eroded skull and then the slightly cartoony look to it pulls it together with a cool contrast. really cool for me at first thinking it was going to be a basic mask.

I think what you should do for the nuclear mask is make the Chevrons like nuclear logo so like black Chevrons and then like a yellow mask then maybe put a black dot In the middle something like that
