DUDE!!!!!! Can I just say that this video, your video, this specific video just taught a 62 year old woman how to create a slide show video. I wished I had of watched your video like 4-5 days ago. I would of saved myself soooooooo much time on this project I have been working on. I have had my Mac for a couple of years and have not explored any apps to speak of. I have just been using this computer for the usual internet crap, mostly KZbin. What took me 40+. hours self teaching I learned from your video in less than 30 minutes. I am so thrilled, you will never know except for me posting this comment. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for posting this video. Your instruction were very well done. Bravo!!!!

THANK YOU! I referred to this and rewatched it a dozen times to do a video for my fathers funeral. I used over 600 photos and 36 minutes of music, so it was a big project. Took me a full 24 hours to get it right as I've never even opened the app iMovie, but it turned out great. SO appreciate the straight forward easy manner in which you taught. I see you live in Utah. Excellent, excellent, excellent, I only wish I had viewed your video before I started a project for my granddaughter’s elementary school graduation. Multiple people uploaded photos to Google Photo, Drop Box, etc for a total of well over 600 photos. I created a folder on my desktop, sorted by Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, etc and then imported into iMovie. When I loaded the photos by year into iMovie, as I loaded subsequent years into iMovie, in most cases they became scrambled with the photos already loaded. It became a nightmare trying to add into their proper school year, I wasted hours and hours. Thank you again, as I completed the project adding Royalty Free Music, KeyNote Slides, etc I followed your File organizing methodology.

Thank you! Great information with a lot of needed details. I am wondering why iMovie changes edits I have made on it's own? When I adjust the length of my photos in a movie to a length I like (3 seconds) and the transitions to a length I like (1.5 seconds), iMovie changes the lengths on it's own after I make my edits. it changes both the photo and transition lengths (for example from 3.0 to 2.9 photo length and from 1.5 to 1.9 transition length). I haven't been able to find a way to keep my edits. Why does it do this and is there a way for me to retain the lengths I prefer?

I have two questions, If the song time is longer than the compiled pictures in my slideshow, can I possibly just reset the slideshow to repeat all over at the point where it finished? also when uploading to youtube are there options not to have ads in the video?

Yes you can! Just copy and paste the song where it ends or add a different song.

I noticed that when you moved all the photos to the timeline they all had the Ken Burns effect applied.. How did you achieve that??.. I thought I’d only be able to do that by selecting each photo individually and then apply the effect!!

Dragging the photo to extend the timing doesn't work on my mac. It stays obstinately at 0.1secs and my haptic touchpad growls at me. The sound track jumps around as well The result is the photo is shift back behind time 0 and silent bits are inserted in the soundtrack. All I want to do is time the photo to be up while particular parts of the soundtrack are playing. No can do. iMovie is the most un-intuitive and frustrating software I have ever used.

TIP: Don't add transitions one-by-one. You can select all images and add the same transition in one go.

If you allow me to make some constructive criticism, I think you spent way too much time on the technicalities of the creation. I know it is all about one's expectations, and assumption. I think you dive into organization and how to pick songs for 40 minutes. The actual core contents, the part that I was interested in, was about 16 minutes. The remaining of the video is about sharing. I still watched the whole tutorial; While the video does explain how to make a slide show, it is really much more about setting up and sharing more than how to make a video engaging to the targeted audience. Although you did warn that transitions may actually be dissuasive, which I concur with. I think your video may be split into three main tutorials. Getting organized, Music, create the slide show, export and share. I am aware I could have jumped to the chapter I had interest in; I don't do that. It is just like a book. You could easily jump through chapters, but then you may miss something that may help you understand the plot. I was mainly interested in how to create an interesting slideshow, not dull to watch. I got that I am not going to use any transition. I found them annoying.
