Your bread looks absolutely delicious. You explained how to make the starter so easy and understandable, I'll definitely give it a go when my kitchen is finished being decorated. Have a wonderful weekend 💞

April and Davy have the sour dough started dehydrated and all you have to do is add the water and flour. They have utube channel and sell the kits too.

Thank you! Do you bake with the leftover starter that you have each day you feed it?
@RachelK Жыл бұрын
No! Not until it’s established as a mature starter. Once it’s a mature starter, your “leftovers” are called discard. You can look up tons and tons of sourdough discard recipes and use it that way :) I just made sourdough discard pancakes yesterday with mine!

So I have a quick question! It seems like a lot to buy at Costco even for a month… is that mostly all the groceries you’ll buy each month? If so that’s a steal🤣 wondering how much you end up spending each week when you break down the price. But I’m obsessed with your channel. Been watching it all day!🤍

Hi! It’s our bulk buy of the month. I do have to get produce weekly. But we all eat every meal at home. So I have to have enough for that. Plus- having to buy allergy friendly food always plays into the price 😂 I prob spend another $100 every week/week and a half for produce

When you're not baking with it daily, how long can it sit in the fridge without being fed?
@RachelK Жыл бұрын
Usually I feed it once a week. But this past month, I forgot about it for 3 weeks and it was fine 😂 I push it to the very back so it stays cold

Hi, what size jars are you using?
@RachelK Жыл бұрын
Oh thank you for the reminder! I just linked them in the description!

It looks like you transfer it to a clean jar each time you feed it during this process, and then once its mature do you still keep changing the jar each time to prevent mold?
@RachelK Жыл бұрын
Personally, I do! Just because I don’t want it to mold again.

what do you do with the discard after you feed it?
@RachelK Жыл бұрын
Get rid of it until it’s matured! It won’t do much for you since it’s not strong enough. Once it’s matured, you can use it in a sourdough discard recipe. I used it in pancakes the other day!
