What a great job sharing your ingenuity and your home-made spinning box. I'm going to keep my eye on the trash in our neighborhood.... for the perfect box.

I immediately fell in love with you and your awesomeness as soon as you said, "Well, this is a box I found on the side of the road." I have done that lots of times. Every time I go to Goodwill or someplace like that, I always snag some boxes. I can't tell you how many boxes i've covered in acrylic paint drippings since i started acrylic pouring back in early August. lol. I now have a lovely LoLiVeFe mat but sometimes, if I feel like it, i'll just use a cardboard box. However! I will make a "pour box" with racks in it so that I don't have to clean up tons of stuff once I'm done with a piece. You're so inspiring too, by the way! Your personality and bubbliness (not sure if that's a word?) just jumps trough the screen and makes me smile. Thanks for making me feel better. Keep up the great content & happy pouring! love, nrrrdgrrrl4life P.S.: feel free to check out my redbubble shop if you're interested. (; (nrrrdgrrrl4life.redbubble.com)

A hint you may find handy. If you get something like a bucket lid near to the size of the lazy Susan base and glue it down with the hollow side up you can put the Susan inside it and it won't slip and slide around from force of push. Love your idea though.

@@michellet2334 I've actually can't remember but, after awhile I had A better idea. Go to your local DIY store, like Home Depot or Menards or you can order from Amazon....I bought a plastic shower tub. I love it and works wonders, I can use it for many art projects from spinning paint, pouring paint and even Resin work. Go get one, you will love.

I was just looking for a box like this this morning for a pour I did on an LP. I previously glued two big aluminum roaster pans from the dollar store together to make a big wide one. It held in the paint, but just barely. To get a TV box like you found was very lucky, because I don't think you can buy one like that. I've also picked up some large empty cardboard produce trays from Aldi's, which are just about big enough. Great idea, and lovely painting!

alot of people advertise free cardboard boxes on craigs list... look in your local area under 'for sale' and then subcategory 'free stuff' there is also a 'wanted' subcategory. usually people will give you the box even in the wanted part because they are huge. you can also contact your local appliance or electronics store and usually those tv in the box, come with another box to protect the sale box... lol they maybe can hook u up, also display tv's most of the time have been removed. or cruise ur big box stores at night in the back. those working throwing freight are usually more helpful than having to go in the store and get passed around. just a hint... i was an HR Manager for a major DIY store that's orange for years... don't tell em i told ya. just wait til the store closes and usually there's guys back there on forklifts and what not, restocking. they'll find ya something. take em something like a 12 pack of soda and they will be your best friend. :)

Well done. I saw one man got his to spin by putting a hole in one side of his box that his vacuum cleaner hose could securely fit in and he put it in the "blow" rather that suck position and it kept up a consistent speed. Perhaps this would be worth a try.

Hi Patricia, I'm just learning about this spin painting technique and am interested in at least playing with it. I would like to make a suggestion to you. Have you thought about getting some sticky Velcro to put on your cake spinner and the back of the hard board you taped to your stretched canvas. I think that would allow them to stick together stronger and there by allow you to spin faster. you can get a package at WalMart for under $5 last I looked it might take several pieces to hold it well enough but it seems to me like it would work.
@BryantinFL6 жыл бұрын
Yes Shelly...that is EXACTLY what I did after my disastrous video. Thanks.
@connectionoflivesandinterests4 жыл бұрын
I was thinking about Velcro too, but what about getting it off canvas when it's done? Wonder if it would come off with ease & not damaging anything? 🤗🤗🤗

@brendaromero43764 жыл бұрын
Thanks for sharing. You’re so clever. I wonder if butcher paper would be easier to use. Also I think your paint may be too thick. Wouldn’t the paint buildup strengthen your box and not keep changing the protection paper. Just my thoughts. I’m going to build me a box Ike this. Again thanks 😊

KY! Awesome! Lol just got to the part where i the canvas slid off your spinner. I'm thinking of using quakehold to secure the canvas when I build my spinner. Might be tricky to keep it 100% level tho. I think I've got to do a box fan spinner to really get it going, but your video is solid. I like your repurposed box. Have you seen Callen Schaub's gigantic spinner? It's an artists dream.

Just an fyi uhaul sells big moving boxes relatively inexpensively. If you use your boxes stretched out to the widest point paint on the lower panel will probably seep under that top panel and onto your floor. Might do a test run with some water first. It's not inexpensive to get acrylic paint out of carpet. Ask me how I know. Good luck!!

You need to read the ingredients on the paint. The chemicals in the paint may be toxic to the body if they are artist quality. There should be a warning label on the paint. Wear gloves.

I’m learning so much from your videos, and I love your idea of containing the spinner in a box! May I ask, how much of the KY do you use? The ratio of paint/floetrol/KY for each color?
@debbiecosden5436 жыл бұрын
Did you check if it is level if you pull the inside piece out slightly??
@BryantinFL6 жыл бұрын
Debbie Cosden No I didn’t and really I’m not kind of a level girl until it comes to setting it up to dry. I’m all about winging everything. I don’t have a specific recipe for my paint mixtures, I do some things in a tub some things on the desk some things in a box. And if it’s not going the way I wanted I simply tilt it up and move it or stick something underneath it and I don’t worry about that kind of stuff.

Why didn’t u use the top u cut off and tape it together? Could have used the cut off top to reinforce the bottom
@BryantinFL6 жыл бұрын
jana darnold Because when I open the box to the full extension if I’m doing a really big pour then I can flip one side down on one side and then I can add the cut off part onto the other side and I’ll be able to store it in my garage without worrying about stuff getting on top of it. That was my thinking at least.
