Hey! Great video. Is there anything a should look for in a good diy splitboard.?
@bluetomato Жыл бұрын
If you follow the instructions carefully, make sure to seal the cut edges and use a board that does not use the channel system by Burton, you'll have fun! :)

You need a specific bindings? Thank you
@bluetomato Жыл бұрын
If you use the Voile-Kit with the Sliders, you can theoretically put any regular binding on it. We would highly recommend specific Splitboardbindings though, as they will amplify your splitboarding experience a lot :)

Is it also possible to use such screws as you need for mounting your skies? So calle wood screws with a thread inside them?

- How did you treat the edges after cut the board into two parts ? Do I need to seal the edges ? - Which kind of glue did you use for fixing the bolts/nuts ? - What is the maximum lenght for at board to be used as a splitboard with the DIY kit from Voile ? Thanks in advance for the reply ;) Best Torben

Hey Torben, yes the edges need to be sealed (for most boards!). Some boards are "split ready" with a plastic or bamboo stringer in the middle, then you don't need sealing. We recommend boat laquer or (flexible!) epoxy for sealing. We used two component epoxy glue for the bolts and nuts For the DIY Split Kit, Voilé does not provide a maximum length, but we'd reckon it should work up to 170. Cheers! Nico / Blue Tomato

super!! one question here, I am planning to split my Burton Feelgood Flying V but i am not sure the Burton bindings "channel" mount consists in a "weird" cut just in the middle of the board.. Any problem here?
@bluetomato5 жыл бұрын
Hey, you will need to have the right equipment to cut through the channel - we wouldn't recommend using a channel-board for splitting because of this reason. It's way harder to split the board and keep the cut straight. You'd also need to fill up the created holes. Not ideal for DIY-splitting unfortunately :(

Loved the vid.. Got a question for ya: I'm going to convert my Capita dan brisse and its got the aluminum capita insert just like your board. Did you tackle that with the angle grinder or just mow through it with the skill saw? Just worried about it tearing out if I use the skill saw... Cheers!
@bluetomato11 жыл бұрын
We would go for the angle grinder, since our skill saw wouldn't have been able to cut through that insert...

What about the central edge?? I mean u are going to need it skinning up
@bluetomato Жыл бұрын
If you want an edge on the inside, you can't go with a DIY, so you'll have to buy a proper one. The DIY approach is for those who want to try splitboarding without spending too much. It has its deficits of course, as the original board wasn't necessarily built to be split in two ;)

I know I'm late to the party but well done. Do you think its possible to pull this off on my wife 2016 Burton feel good? I ask because it has rocker in the center with camber under both feet. Wondering about the dynamics of skinning with such a profile. Any help or advice is appreciated 🙏
@bluetomato4 жыл бұрын
Hey, Flying V boards should be fine for splitting, but a camber or flat underfoot (in splitmode!) certainly helps in traverse situations. Depends on what kind of tours you're thinking of doing. If it gets demanding, we would not recommend a board with rocker in the middle.

do you need splitboard bindings for this ?
@bluetomato9 жыл бұрын
+bartgevers BG not necessarily, you can also use regular bindings with the Voilé Sliders! :)
@Gunzoid0334 жыл бұрын
@@bluetomato do split board binding flex different when skinning? Or are they essentially the same but made for splits
@bluetomato4 жыл бұрын
@@Gunzoid033 the baseplate of splitboard bindings is a lot stiffer than regular bindings, since they also keep the board together in riding mode. When you use a regular binding with the Voilé sliders, the sliders do that job
@tobyellingwood820411 жыл бұрын
Would this be possible with a monoski?
@bluetomato11 жыл бұрын
We have never tried, but we wouldn't see why not! Other than the monoski being a little narrow to use it as a snowboard afterwards. Or do you want to go ride the powder with the monoski then? The template is only for snowboard stances, and we don't think the clips alone will have enough hold for the two pieces to remain together while riding if there are no bindings to connect them...
