Question: could you just do a haywire twist on the Malin wire and then forego the AFT wire?

Hi. OK, so I don't get why you need to use two different types of wire?

The Malin wire gives it shape so it will corkscrew through the water and look like an eel swimming. You could use a heavier main wire that bends as a single wire. Commercially made ones use a single wire.
