When you go to cut the 1/2" strips, I've got 2 words for you...rotary cutter. You can breeze right through all the layers at once. That's assuming you have one although I assume that if you have a sewing machine, you also have a rotary cutter... ;-)

How good is it at picking up dust? Flannel.. Is that a type of fabric? Like how cotton or silk or nylon are types of fabric?
