I had the same problem with OBS you mentioned: very low fps when recording. However, I have found a solution. You just need to minimize the screen recorder to system tray. You won't see what it's recording, but it will have full 60fps. For some reason, whenever OBS was on top of synthesia, it had like 5 fps. But when I minimized it, it didn't drop a single frame. I know this video is 2 years old, but if you haven't found another solution since then, and if you still care, try it out, it saves a lot of time imo. Nice video! Very clear and easy to follow. ^^

@GustavAstep5 жыл бұрын
Chiaki - Zetsubousei - If you're using an acoustic piano, you could use an already generated midi file and play the song exactly as the midi file, although that would be pretty difficult. Or you play and record smth and then digitally draw a midi file according to what you've played on the acoustic piano. Either way, it's much more effort without an electric piano.

Hi, Thanks for this tutorial. I've got one question : if I understand correctly, the "sound" of your playing is not recorded, only the "notes" are converted to a midi file. So, the sound of the music is directly generated by Synthesia, when you select the instrument to play the midi file. Am I correct ? Thanks for your answer.
@GustavAstep5 жыл бұрын
The midi is recorded by the computer. With a piano VST you can make the midi sound lilke a piano and that sound I use for the actual audio of the video. Synthesia also generates a piano sound but that one sounds pretty bad.

@GustavAstep6 жыл бұрын
Completely free will be difficult (or illegal haha). Synthesia Video Creator and Free Video Converter + are free and Synthesia costs 29$ at the moment. So financially, the problem is Ableton and Final Cut Pro. To replace those, try to work with the installed programs on your computer like Garage Band and iMovie (for Mac). Probably you can also do it with these programs or get really close. Let me know how that works for you. I think in the very beginning I also tried this with iMovie but I couldn't find an option to rotate the filmed footage, incase I filmed the playing with a slight angle (which is always the case). That's why I searched for different programs. Ableton was recommended by a friend and I'm very happy with it. There are reduced prices for students and times with higher discounts.
