Very nice view of joining the two pot halves. The coil clay was perfect in plasticity.

Amazing! I'm just getting into pottery, had my first full class and beginning to understand the mechanics of slab. Thank you for this, can't wait to do the same in my next class.

So apparently the pot you were making and the ready ones are different pots..as I saw how you bent the clay when you were joining the ends to make the first half of the pot..clay in the kiln would want to bend back like that as it remembers that ..clay has a memory…but your end result pots are all even …so am I correct, the pot in the making and the end results are actually different items ?

what? that’s how you manipulate slabs when you are slab building. you’re right that clay has memory, but how would you make a slab pot without bending the clay? 🤔

@@PotteryTemplatesI’m talking only about 2:03, when the shape is squished . Fixed back right after. Why did it not go back to the squished shape in the kiln? Every time I do something like that I get the shape whatever I did during the making..that’s why I’m wondering

@@checkonetwo ah ok I see what you mean. You're right there, it's not ideal to deform the shape like that. But as long as the other attachments are secure, it is fine. Anyway, the pots you see in the final result are indeed the pots during the making process, so I guess it was fine in my case. But warping depends on countless factors, including what kind of clay you use, ie grog content, drying practices, firing curve, etc.

Thank you! I will try this ! I hope the attachment keeps the good shape. I’ve been watching you for a couple years, really enjoying. Sometimes I get very inspired.❤
