I came back to this video just to put a like on it, not only did it work first try - so I didn't have to go through the entire tutorial again - It also showed me how useful a 'wait key pressed' and 'not wait key pressed can be'.

I followed your code to the letter and it worked perfectly in all departments-except for the one thing I realized wasn't mentioned in this video, which is completing words that overlap with the end of the screen. The words tend t o cut off someth ing like this. I found the easiest solution to this is to just put enough spaces into your input text (basically using empty spaces in substitution for paragraph breaks) to make the text engine drop the letters down before the entire word starts, but I feel like this is going to cause problems down the long run. If you ever have a better answer for this one, please let us know!

Thanks, this is simple and gets the job done, and it's easy to use any character, and add a little sound to make depending on a variable you determine, so that you can have a game with characters that have unique dialouge sounds. Although, I think it's better to name each capital letter costume their capital letter, rather than a lowercase one, and then make sprites for the lowercase letters. That would make it as simple as inputing exactly what you want it say. Other than that, this is was really helpful!

This is pretty good, but be aware that it only works for monospace fonts. For example, "M" is more wider than ".".

Hi there! I just followed your instructions, and the text engine worked! The only thing is, when I type in for example: "hello!" it types h, then the e glides over the h, then the l, then the other l, then the o. It creates a weird-looking effect and I don't like it lol. Oh. Make sure to click "run without screen refresh" for the custom block. You can edit it by right clicking the red function. Don't worry, it's a common mistake and you might have missed it in the tutorial when I made the block.

Gonna imagine I did something odd in uploading, but in everyone of these tuts I look at, costume number and name don't seem to be a point of mistake. You see, I'm getting an 's' every time there supposed to be a space... I also double, triple, and quadruple checked each codeblock; It will not follow where I put it on screen like you did and it will not create another line, with or without spaces. Probably because your assets variable is for all sprites. It needs to be for this sprite only.

Simple - go to the type test custom block, right click and select "edit" and then tick the run without screen refresh button.
