I am about to start on an 1830's project and had gone down the rabbit hole of KZbin and came upon your lovely video! I think this method or using cording for the ruffles and the fact you use organdy are very smart. The video was organized and very helpful! I now know I can use a corded petticoat and top it with a layered one to get the right amount of floof that I need. Thanks!

A couple months ago I made a red tiered petticoat. And hand stitched the 14 meter rolled hem using Juul's awesome tutorial. It took 3 days. I'm really looking forward to delivery of the attachment that will allow my old second hand (but not vintage) machine to use things such as rolled hem and zipper feet. Love your crisp and floofy petticoat!

Thank You! I've been pondering just such a petticoat and now know how to start! I'm also going to make a shorter version with tulle tiers for a 50's style skirt, but I was worried about the scratchiness, so will 'borrow' this petticoat format of using base panels.

Next time you have to add the yarn into the channels for gathering, just add it into the channel as you're sewing it down, just be sure to secure the ends so they don't pull free in the process! Also, how many yards in total did you end up purchasing of the organdy?

I was looking for a good understanding petticoat tutorial since I'm making one for lolita, so glad I came across yours!! I plan on shortening the ruffle length and using cotton since I have so much of it, so wish me luck 😅!!
