For beginners, you could also suggest just a cheap lined notebook instead of putting in the work for all of the lines, they’re already available to them to see if it’s a technique beneficial to them!

Or buy a filofax or office diary. Works as well. If there is no design or layoiut you like, create the pages in Photoshop/GIMP and print it out for a ring binder.

This year, I’ve been doing this in reverse because I am one of those that believes I can do everything and have plenty of time and am not a time waster. I sit down with my ipad and I fill in the time blocks with everything that I want to do and those that need done. This shows me right away that I have no time to say yes to anybody else’s project and to stay on track with my personal projects n goals. Then, the deeply satisfying part is I erase each item as I do it. At the end of the week I can see what is still there because something took longer than I thought or something came up that was no scheduled in. I just make notes right there. As I look back at the weeks I can see definite patterns and procrastination points and I can also see where I physically/mentally stall out and need to adjust for those periods of day We have to be excellent stewards of our time, even better than our money-we can save that, invest it, or earn it back-time is just gone! Make sure you we are putting our time into family and projects that are meaningful to us

Time poverty is a thing! I have a toddler and I can attest that there aren't enough hours in the day 😅 That said, I love everything else about this video. I have been tracking my time off and on since reading 'The Now Habit' by Neil Fiore. And I work as a consultant so I track my time during the day. I love doing it and it has really helped me prioritize my time slowly over the years. I've used both bullet journals and preprinted planners to do this. So no need to spend an hour making spreads every week (unless you want to).

Agree 100%! Time poverty IS a thing! Got a toddler too and can't get things done during the day. But it’s a good video, very informative!

Just discovered your channel. This is a brilliant video. Thank you. I did this time blocking diary for my work days to try to understand why I feel so perilously close to burn out. It was so worthwhile and showed me just how dangerous to my health my lack of work/life balance is. It has prompted me to apply for a new job because my current working life is unsustainable. Here is my typical work day: *05.15 - 06.00 Get ready for work. *6.00 - 19.55 Travel to/from work and working day (try to grab a little sleep on public transport, eat breakfast while walking from railway station to office, eat lunch while working as there's just so much to do, we're allowed to take bathroom breaks and make drinks during the working day, but no breaks are contracted into our working day). *19.55 - 21.00 Cook, eat, prepare breakfast and lunch for next day, clean up. *21.00 - 21.45 Get ready for bed. *21.45 - 22.00 Read. = 7 hours 15 minutes (ish) sleep. = Free time each day - 15 minutes. Massive well done for completely stopping gaming, too. I'm hugely impressed!!! Thanks again.

I have been using a Composition Notebook as a Planner, tracker and catch all. 2020 made me realize I didn’t need to spend the money on a planner. I pick up my notebooks during back to school sale for fifty cents a piece. Anyway, I’ve been doing tracking my day for a week now. In living color I can see where I am productive and where I waist my time. In just one week I’ve started to make changes. Thanks for this simple but useful idea.

5:48 yeah with ADHD gotta say that noting each time I start or stop an activity would totally distract me from being able to switch tasks and ruin any type of productivity flow I could have been generating, sounds draining AF.

maybe try using something like Timeular that requires only switching a physical object to the other side, and nothing else, to track activities - I think that might be less distracting this tool is kinda pricey but maybe there are some cheaper alternatives

Dulu masa sekolah aku rabun jadi kalau ternampak-nampak benda-benda ni, aku ingatkan nampak kabur sebab aku rabun (Alhamdulillah). Sekarang dah Lasik bijik mata, pernah ternampak, kabur juga (Alhamdulillah). Maksudnya bukan sebab aku rabun, tapi sebab memang kabur benda tu, sebab tempat dia bukan dunia kita. Dia pun susah sebenarnya nak tunjuk diri. Itu kata Ustaz. Apa pun semoga dijauhkan la semua ni, kadang-kadang terkena tu, berterabur semua benda, nak baca Surah pun kelu. Kalau aku dapat usaha laung "AllahuAkhbar" baru lah boleh mula baca apa-apa. Itu pun kena ulang-ulang. Lepas habis tu, penat rasa macam baru lari 10km.

4:00 that calculation always leaves me a little "depressed" cause it shows me that actually i have LESS time that i think/wish. An important consideration is that ok maybe you have 60 hours free but if they're almost all concentrated in 2 days, it's not the same. You're not gonna do stuff 100% of that time. Obviously you will lose some of it (more than what you "lose" on a work day). Anyway it's not an excuse, i try do as much as i can, but i avoid that calculation 😂

(Assuming you’re in America like me) It’s because America doesn’t give us a healthy work life balance which is why we feel we don’t have time. Not to mention, some of us have to work 2 jobs just to survive 😕😕😕 in this country. So in hindsight, it’s really our economic system that’s the biggest problem. Because I thought about this during this video, I don’t feel so guilty given those circumstances. You’re doing just fine ❤❤❤

I know I’m not gonna keep up with an hourly tracker every day. But, if I can start my day with 4 solid hours, I’ll be doing GREAT. So I’ll leave this note here and check back after Easter 2024. I’ll make it part of my Lenten discipline to track the first half of my day. ⏰ 👍🏾💚🖤💚

🕰️ Watching this at night and I might try time journaling tomorrow! I don’t know if I’ll be able to last two weeks but let’s see 👀 I’m quite scared to start doing this because I know my screen time can reach over 6 hours if I have no school or homeworks to do and I don’t want to see too much red in my journal ,but hopefully since I have many to-do’s tomorrow surely my time won’t be wasted endlessly scrolling through insta and I’ll actually do my tasks right? 😭
