I just spent three hours at a workshop learning this technique and came home very frustrated! The tape on the "Z" is a game changer. Thanks for this video.

Lol... I was totally thinking “why didn’t he put the interfacing on first? 😂 It’s see through.” 🤔 But I’m SO glad you didn’t edit that out of the video because it’s totally something I would do too and was an easy enough fix. I’m not sure I’m a fabric weaver but I’m fascinated by the process. Thank you for the fun video Mister Domestic and FQS! ❤️😘

Hmmm...In my experience...(maybe I'm doing something wrong)...but any time I try to steam press anything with that kind of a double fold, it doesn't seem to matter how far my hand is away from the actual iron; it seems the folding creates a tunnel that sends the steam along straight into my hand, and I get a steam burn! :-O I have trouble seeing what you're really doing; I have astigmatism, so those kinds of patterns "move" on me, and I get totally bollixed up! :-(

Given the first layer blocks your grid, wouldn't it be easier to only draw the verticals and then draw one of each diagonal near the center extending past the grid an inch or so one on each side for visibility? Then you have something you can see for the second and third layers. (And since you line up subsequent strips with the first one, you just need one line to line up that first strip with.) I have the Wefty needles, this looks like a great thing to try them out with. Just need to figure out what to use for a pinnable surface.

One could use a bias tape maker tool for the pressing of the strips too!

i just found you and i love you! thanks for the fun positive vibes for super cool art! just thinking, if you make your diagonal lines longer than the grid box, you can see them when you have the first layer on. does that make sense? just draw the diagonals out of the 10" box. anyways! i made 4 of your scandinavian hearts out of paper so far for christmas cards! love!
