If the sky sometimes hangs full of violins, perhaps that's because Peter Körner makes his violins in the former episcopal ordinariate - there the proximity to heaven is not only given in terms of sound. The small violin is made of almost 100 percent wood, and it is clear to everyone just by looking at it that true craftsmanship is behind all the details. "There are exactly two machines in our workshop..." the boss knows and smiles, "...one of them is the coffee machine." From the arched top, to the curved ribs, to the intricately carved scroll - nothing about this delicate instrument is as light as its sound - everything takes time, rest and care, and there is just enough of that in Peter Körner's international master workshop in Mainz's old town.
