Whatever Charlotte went through to do this it only goes to show how difficult making and landscaping a waterfall is. I've learnt so much from this video showing the detail on how to build these things. What looks easy really isn't. Thank you Charlotte and thank you Mark for the tutorial the waterfall looked amazing on completion and you have helped a lot of people. Mark probably feels this frustration every time he builds a waterfall at some point when the rocks don't work.

This, is an education that for me is priceless once again! I am absolutely loving watching your videos and I am learning so much with each and every one. but there's more to this one, it's seeing the personal side of you both. Your wife's frustration is almost felt at certain points but the more she persevered you can see her confidence building. I am very grateful for you once again sharing your vision with us all. With each video I get even more excited and eager to start my rebuild. And to close, I have watched this a few times over and the heartfelt closing from you both is very special, the pride you both exhibit is wonderful!

I've learned so much from you guys. It was so real and I can relate to Charlotte. She did great for doing it herself her first time. Im a hands-on learner too so it is stressful and frustrating. However, this is the way it is for us hands- on learners! Watching others do it a hundred times doesn't work for me, I have to do it myself or I simply won't learn. Way to go! Appreciate this tutorial very much!

@@ThePondAdvisor Not yet, the location has been dug and all parts have been ordered. I was going to point the spillway directly toward the viewing area, and in straight downhill direction but now I 'm going to direct the waterfall box to the side and then use rocks to divert the flow downhill, it will hide waterfall outlet and then I can very natural looking cascade down the short hill. Again, thanks for the videos and ideas.

Thank you both for sharing this! You’ve answered so many of my questions and I’m excited to get back to my mother’s house today to continue working on hers! Take care and God Bless you both! I do have a question though. Would you add silicone between the liner and the rubber gasket behind the spillway box or would you add it to the back of the spillway box between it and the liner?

The Pond Advisor That’s great, thank you! What are the dimensions of the pond and if a bigger pump is used then price is more than what’s listed for the tiny package? Trying to work out costs and what will fit in our garden.

That's fantastic to hear! I'm so glad that you've found the information and inspiration you needed to take on your project. Your enthusiasm is truly infectious! Starting a new project, especially one as substantial as a pond or water feature, can certainly be daunting. But remember, every step you take, no matter how small, is progress. Creating something beautiful in your garden can be an incredibly rewarding experience, not to mention the peace and relaxation that a water feature can bring. Remember, it's okay to make mistakes along the way - they're just opportunities to learn and grow. Good luck with your project, and have a wonderful time building your new water feature. I'm sure it'll turn out beautifully! Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any other questions along the way. And most importantly, enjoy your weekend too!

Relating! I have a 3 metre long, 30cm wide, 25cm deep, leak free galvanised cattle trough with the idea of digging a trench, part filling with gravel and lowering the trough to situate at ground level to make a sunken rill type water feature. Also figuring on and spillway at one end to run into the trough for that calming trickling water sound and a wood foot bridge going over as part of a pathway from patio to deck. I have half a ton a of rock stones and about the same different sized gravel, but ever since all I’ve done is think about all the reasons I’ll probably mess it up! - How should I prepare the foundation for the trough? - Will slugs make a city-like colony in the gaps underneath? - Where should the pump be situated? - How do I determine what size pump to buy, for how much power I need? - What will the set-up for the recirculating pump water outlet look like? - Where should the reservoir water be situated? - What do I do if the pump’s electrical cable isn’t long enough to reach the power outlet? - Do I need a sump? - What is a sump? - Is the 20-25cm depth too shallow for water plants? My husband says he has faith in me. I’m thinking I should just go on a course! I’m probably in over my head!

Remember to take your time with the project and enjoy the process. Even if you encounter problems, they'll likely be solvable with a little patience and creativity. Good luck with your water feature!
@ThePondAdvisor

A depth of 20-25cm is suitable for a number of water plants, including dwarf varieties of water lilies, water hyacinths, or water lettuce. These will add colour to your feature and help keep the water clean.

If your ground is uneven, consider digging a trench slightly deeper than needed and filling it with a layer of sand or gravel to help level it out. The sand or gravel will also act as a buffer between the trough and any sharp rocks or roots in the soil that could potentially damage it.
@ThePondAdvisor
@ThePondAdvisor Жыл бұрын
Slugs could indeed find the damp, dark area underneath the trough appealing. One way to deter them could be using copper tape around the base of the trough - slugs and snails are deterred by copper as it gives them a small electric shock.
@ThePondAdvisor
@ThePondAdvisor Жыл бұрын
The pump should ideally be located at one end of the trough, away from the spillway. This will help create a current that will carry debris towards the pump, where it can be removed by the filter. Be sure to place the pump on a stable surface, and avoid placing it directly on the bottom of the trough where it could suck up sediment.

While it may seem like a big project, breaking it down into smaller steps can make it more manageable. Framing Rock, Framing Rock something in between. Remember, it doesn't have to be perfect right away, and it's okay to make adjustments as you go. The most important thing is not to give up on your dream. Your family will appreciate the waterfall not just for its beauty, but for the hard work and love you put into creating it. Good luck with your project, and remember, we have many tutorial videos here, where you can ask for help and advice. Peace be with you as well.

To create a beautiful waterfall in your garden, you should start by designing the layout. Consider the size of your back garden and how big you want the waterfall to be in relation to the space. Decide on the direction you want the water to flow, how many falls you want, and what kind of rocks and plants you want to include. Once you have a design, start gathering the necessary materials. You'll need a pond liner, rocks for the waterfall and pond edge, a pond pump, and waterfall foam to secure the rocks and prevent water from flowing underneath them. I would recommend looking or getting an Aquascape Pondless or Landscape waterfall kit . These materials can often be found on line, we have a UK store waterfeature.shop/ Prepare the area where you want your waterfall to be located by marking it out and digging a deep end for the pond pump and a shallow end for the water to flow into. Dig out tiers/ benches for the waterfall as well. Once the area is prepared, lay down the pond/waterfall liner and ensure it covers the entire area with plenty of overlap at the edges. Begin building the waterfall by arranging the rocks from the bottom up, using the pond foam to secure them and direct the water flow. Install the pump and connect it to the top of the waterfall. After setting everything up, fill the pond with water and test the waterfall. Make any necessary adjustments to the water flow and the positioning of the rocks. Once the waterfall is working properly, add plants and decorations to enhance its natural beauty.

Why in the world was she so stressed out. This was stressful for me to watch. Is she just afraid of not being perfect or being filmed. I enjoyed learning from her learning but your tone in teaching her could have been less frustrated and more encouraging. Yanking things from her and doing it for her killed her desire, enjoyment, and creativity.😢
