Have you tried the record midi to track feature they added to logic it eliminates the need for midi fx freeze

its a shame logic left us older MacBook users behind, can't upgrade to 10.7.5 even tho the new features should be basic implementations imo, they are forcing us to upgrade our apple hardware :(
