Hello Ryan taylor, For now i need to finish these spearguns first! during the summer months I don´t have time to make more videos. Yes you are right, I start to realize that small projects like making router bits and other things that I include in my videos can make interesting videos that can help others achive their projects! ***** Hello Nevermind, I like the hobbyist/design enthusiast, making things is something that i been doing since i was a child, i remember making replicas of the guns and the communications devices used on the TV series "Space:1999" and making a simple inverted V shape camping tent when i was 12! Thanks for the comment and for watching my videos!

It's been several years ago, but I wanted a Reefe spear gun and couldn't afford one. I went to Lowe's, came out with some red oak 1x2's and some brass parts for a gate lock, the kind with a sliding bar. I fabricated the trigger, and rolling bar safety out of stainless steel I had laying around the garage. routed out the trigger housing and glued two pieces of 1x2 together for the body and another piece for the pistol handle (modeled after an M-60 machinegun handle). Used a scrap piece of stainless steel for the shaft and an actual spearhead tip with folding barbs I had found earlier on a dive. The only thing I bought from the dive shop was 3 spear gun bands with the wire for holding into the shaft. Worked like a champ and spend a total of about 40 bucks on it, including the bands. Still have it laying in the closet, the bands are rotted with age and need replacing. But you're right the fun was in the project itself.
@ScoutSniper312410 жыл бұрын
PS. used the brass gate lock piece for the guides the rod traveled through on top of the wood itself.

Hello Robert, as you know i´m building two spearguns, i decided instead of making two equal speargus why not making a "roller speargun" too! i just finished the Cad design, i´ll post a video soon showing the 3D model, after i´ll start working on part 5 (as time permits!) Making the plans available will take some time, i want to field test every thing for a long time to know that it works, that is reliable and most important that is safe to use! Thanks for watching!

Nice work,and excellent vid tutorial,i think better to keep the track "V" shape because less friction to the spear, thanks alot
@MrMyvids4you6 жыл бұрын
Hello Rachmad Santoso, I suspect the reason the "V" shape wasn`t adopted by the professional makers is because it limits the size of the spear shaft to one size only, the size that the "V" was cut for, using a bigger shaft will move it up on the track and that can prevent it from locking in to the trigger mechanism. That`s my opinion. Thanks for the comment and for watching my videos.

Very nice video again!!! You should buy yourself an angle grinder for metal-cutting-processes. So you can use 1 mm grinding plates and they will cut the hard metals you work with just like butter. These machines are not very expensive but making the cuts much easyer for you. But think about safety gear, the fire problem (wood and flints!!!) and get yourself some practice whith the machine just before you start using it.

very brave I'm proud of you. Question: how do you know your drill bit in centered after grinder the shaft to 1/4"?
@MrMyvids4you6 жыл бұрын
Hello D McLoughlin, it will never be perfect centered, it´s important to keep a steady hand when turning the drill, i checked this tool for run-out and it was very little. With a small diameter like this one and not having the cutter sticking out to much out of the collet and making lite cuts, it works fine. (use it at your own risk) now i´m safe from the lawyers! Ha ha Thanks for the comment and for watching.

For now the only dimensions that I can provide are: Housing = 65x30x13mm two milimeters thick Trigger and Sear= 5mm thick Material = 316 grade stainless
