I've always found that transparent specific paint keeps its transparency as I build up layers, whereas if I thin the paint myself either with a combo of medium and thinners or just thinners it still becomes opaque as the layers build up. Would love to know how they make transparent paints remain transparent even with several layers applied.

Mike please, how do you paint a tinted glass but with the light coming BEHIND it? Not teflecting the light but being translucent of it? I am painting on cavas, in acrylic, a subject that involves a piece of led glass filtering the light. Many thanks for your valuable help.

Thanks for this. I find your most useful (to me) videos are the ones where you give very specific tips, such as this one. I'd like to see you do some very specific 'helps' on composition + design...I can tell when something ISN't good, but need specific help knowing what IS good! For example, i've heard reference to 'C composition' . You suggestions in this area would be great as your compositions are always wonderful!

I met an artist in Canada that uses acrylic air brush medium vs water. It looks like skim milk. It binds as the paint does and one can make super thin glazes. It dries clear. Too much water can be a problem when attempting transparency. I dip my brush in it as I work to make washes.

Oh herd doing this causes the paint to flake over time because it dilutes the binder. What happens if you add binder?

Thin your paint using a medium or water. I'm going to guess the medium is your better choice. Something like floetrol, or Elmer's Glue All (the white glue) and a little water to get your consistency the way you want it.When I say a little water that mean add small amounts and stir after each addition, then stir again. You mat need a to test on a piece of paper to see dry time on either one. A little means a drop or two.

Hello , i am trying to paint on glass but i dont know what kind of paint to use that is non toxic & washable . Can you please tell if i should use stain glass paint & then cover it with special varnish that again is non toxic ? Or is there another non toxic durable paint . Thank you 🙏

Sir, how can you paint on glass so that it is transparent and resistant to ultra violet and heat without fading, simply it is permanent? And what is the paint name and the brand I should use?

What brands do you suggest for beginners who want decent good quality that doesn't paint like toothpaste!? Canada and US. Thanks.

The amount of pigment, as opposed to medium, in a tube of paint is what determines quality. There are a lot of good quality brands out there, and your local artist supply store can help you pick the ones that have the most pigment. Generally speaking brands that say "student" grade are less expensive because they have less pigment.

I have read that if you add too much water to acrylic paint it will break down the bonding agents in the paint and it won’t adhere. Any one have experience with this?

Then why do people speak of transparent pigments? I’m not sure this video is accurate. I’m not sure a paint that uses more opaque pigment will have the same properties as a glaze with a more transparent pigment just by thinning It more but I could be wrong. I’m guessing it does work though I just wonder if some vibrancy is lost.
