Thank you for sharing this build. I have a step grandson that just started college. I decided this would make an excellent CHRISTmas present for him for his IPad. So yes I made it. Plus I really appreciate how well you explained the process's through out the build. I will be following your channel. Thanks again

It's absolutely gorgeous, and in high school wood shop I might have been able to have all the machines to make it. Only problem there is when I was in school there were no cell phones or tablets!! Lol. I have some disabilities that keep me down a lot and I am learning to use a tablet and this would be so great so I didn't have to hold it all the time. So now you are going to have me on the hunt for something functional to use. Thanks so much for sharing your craft and talents with us and I look forward to watching you make other things

Very nice build and well described on the building process. Hope the family liked the present, pity that part wasn't recorded it would have been good to see. Well Done keep up these great videos. Oh and love the Instructables t-shirt. TC, Barry (ENG)
@Woodumakeit8 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Barry. Our friends won't receive the stand until Christmas so it will be hard to keep it a surprise when it's on KZbin. :-) I won the Instructables t-shirt in a contest that I entered with one of my projects, so I was looking forward to wearing it on a video. I'm glad you recognized it!
@barryroberts64708 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply, yes i recognised the t-shirt as i'm on Instructables myself, but only the same as my KZbin, just for some Ideas and Plans. It's a good site. Barry.

Very nice build, but I feel like that box joint tower is super overkill. You could have made that thing 1/2 the width and it would still hold the weight of any cell phone or tablet, right? Maybe I'm wrong, but either way, it looks great, and I'm sure it works great.

How could you make this in an adjustable height format? Could you use those metal rods like you see on microphone stands? I am not sure what they are called if someone could tell me where I could purchase the metal adjustable rods to create the adjustable height that would be wonderful.

Great project, but as small as this item is, I would have left out Lazy Susan part. It just seems unnecessary to me. But overall I really like the project. I'm thinking about making one for myself.
@Woodumakeit6 жыл бұрын
It makes sense what you're saying, but I guess it depends on how it is to be used. For my friends, they're typically not sitting side by side during the video calls to France, so they wanted something they could easily rotate to be able to point the phone to the person who was speaking. Thanks for watching, and good luck with your project if you decide to make one.

Does the top piece where the phone is held have an adjustable angle?
@Woodumakeit7 жыл бұрын
It does, yes. It's held together at the back with a 1/4" bolt with a knob on one end. Just loosen the knob, adjust the angle, and then tighten the knob back up.

Um Wood U Make It? i luv ur design for this and i would really like to use it for a mini PC build by which, i would be placing an IPS display where u will place the smartphone or tab, making a stand for the display, and to the back i would cut a little pice of the wood to run the IPS ribbon to the back where i would attach the small motherboard on for it to run. So your design was very easy for my little project!!!!! Thanks Alot!!!!!!!! I subscribed!!!!!!!

Rather over-elaborate, requiring power tools the average person could only access by arrangement. The real work is done by the bearing but in order to make this design suitable for tablets a simple rotating "bearing" could be used so that landscape and portrait orientation was available. This would simply require an extra strip of retaining beading wood so the orientation would be clockwise OR anticlockwise to best suit the wiring running up the column. Semi-suction or thin rubber feet would also steady the whole stand in real world use.

I would have pocketed the 2 parts where the bearing is deep enough so there was only about a 16th gap or less between the 2 parts. Would give a cleaner look to it. That gap is downright ugley...

Why 90% of the americans point of view or those who try to explain something start with a random story... who care about the story.. just explain how you do what you try to share and thats it.. Bed stories .. not so interesting.. just time lost. and not so "cool" stand either..
@whoDatBeDare6 жыл бұрын
Chill out dude! Just use the scrub forward to skip the story. Nice guy. Presenting a nice project. Thats a lot of work.

@gattonpc6 жыл бұрын
Yea. pretty much any of those who cares how much work is put in projects like this ...they never start them..because they get scared... is easy to watch YT..than actualy do what they see on YT.. fucktard.. next time try to understand all you read not only what suit you.. from a comment.. or keep your narrow mind set up like this and you will end up being ignored :))
