How to Make an Attic Access Panel

I suppose I left out the first few steps since this had already been done.
1. Locate the studs.
2. Mark out, between the studs, where you want to cute the opening.
3. Score your line with a straight edge and a utility knife or other knife.
4. Saw your panel with a drywall saw.
5. Follow the video.

DUDE !!!! ONE Million thank yous ! Exactly what I needed as I have (for 20 years) been RE-Taping and hot mudding a 3'x5' sheetrock "access" hole 14' off the ground in my garage. I will use your video to make an access panel and add a gate pull handle (or and EYE Bolt) & short rope to the top of the panels 1/4 to be able to LOWER the panel below the access hole (to hang) when I have to go back into my attic. AGAIN 1 million thank yous !

That sounds miserable...if you want to make it "fancy" you could use window/door casing and miter the corners. Although at 14 feet up, in your garage, not many people will notice. Good luck.

​@@slightlycrookedworkshop Thanks for the feedback. Well, coincidentally, I was just finishing up my "frame" and came in for a break when I saw your reply. Any kind of "frame" - 1"x3" or door casings were/ would be adding so much extra weight, that I have decided to "tack" in the sheetrock in the hold with a few screws and then hoist the 1"x3" frame up separately and add a few more screws at the corners and 1"x3" cross brace that I added to the frame. Sometimes 2 steps especially when dealing with a lot of weight on a ladder is the best solution. Your framing idea/ video really helped out since the frame covers the 4x seams and now I never have to do the difficult and messy seam taping and mudding. Big thanks !
