Hook: Daiichi 7131 # 4
Antennas: fine monofilament painted red and black with indelible markers.
Eyes: monofilament painted red with black pupil
Rostrum: red artic fox tail
Shell: transparent thermocontractable paint red and then craquelada black paint.
Rib: fine monofilament
Body: red polar chenille
Note: Deer Creek fine UV resin is used for eye and shell termination and coating.
Crustaceans are an important food for a large number of both saltwater and freshwater fish, and are of great importance to tempt anadromous species or to alternate their habitat between the sea and rivers, making shrimp imitations (Shrimps, prawns) as we present here in flies very effective for salmon fishing, since although the fish does not seek to feed on its journey through the river it continues to respond to the impulse generated by its frequent food during its stay at sea or In the estuary. Tied in a double hook to improve its stability and swimming in waters of strong current, can also be tied in simple hooks or on tubes.

Love this pattern, I tied it up last night for the first time. Didn’t turn out half bad, I was definitely a little intimidated going in to it but it was easier than I expected. Where I’m at in Florida we can’t use plastic straws anymore so I actually used a plant based biodegradable straw as the shell, it worked out nicely. Thanks man, great work!

Ruben Martin Flies It's on my bucket list to fish in Patagonia but Atlantic Salmon aren't to common in my area. I would have to use a different color. Probably a white shrimp.

Ruben, great video! I want to try to do this, but get lost one how you attach the red polar chenille with the monofilament. Could you possibly do a tutorial or explain what you did? Its difficult to see how you are wrapping the monofilament and the chenille together around the hook shank. Second question, are you using just a clear drinking straw for the body? Third question, I can't find the paint you are using for the shell in America. Do they go by a different name perhaps? Thanks for your help!! Cheers!

Hi my friend, the monofilaments stays on its place, i wrap the chenille, but the monofilament keeps on his place until i put the plastic shell, then i insert the monofilament thru the hole i made to the plastic and then i wrap the monofilament. Its a electronic shrink plastic tube. Kind regards

Hey Ruben, Are there really shrimps that color where you are. I have only seen them that color when cooked! Ours are sort of clear with a green tinge to them. I am sure there are many species I haven't seen. Great idea for a carapace! That is surely an eye catcher. All the best, Sean
