Create An Epic Devil's Egg Serving Board with Simple Steps!
In this video I show how to create an epic devil's egg serving board using Carveco software and a Onefinity CNC. The Devil's egg board is made of oak in this case but you can use other species to create your epic board.
I used a 1/4-inch end mill and a 1/4-inch ball end mill to create the board.
when finished I used a 1/8 round over bit in a handheld router to soften the edge on the board.

This is a great tutorial. I keep running into an issue with the material thickness. It always assumes the material is thicker than I want it. My goal is to use the 0.75" just as in the tutorial, but the three times I've done this, when i get to the material setup screen, it is already either 1.6" (the first time) or 0.81005" (the second and third time), and as a result, Maker+ will not let me enter 0.75". There must be a setting I'm overlooking
@Hinkleshop

I think you are missing the safe z setting That setting should be .1 - .2
@melchioe1

And I figured out what setting I messed up. The height and start height are different things. Start height apparently needs to remain at 0. Once i got the proper values in there, it worked perfectly! Excellent tutorial!

Vernon, you mentioned using the shape editor in Maker for the eggs as I don’t have maker+ , but I don’t think Maker has that option, or at least I cannot find it ? 🤔
@Hinkleshop
@Hinkleshop Жыл бұрын
What I’m showing you here can only be done in maker plus However, there is a way you can do it with only maker Go to the relief, clipart library bring in the sphere, adjust the size to the correct size before you paste it copy the number of eggs you need and continue on with relief carving tool paths
@craigwesson1788

I did try that, but I wasn’t able to size the sphere. Would I use the transformer tool to do that 🤔

Vernon, I’ve got the egg shape down, but there is obviously something I’m doing incorrect. lol. I don’t know if you had time to do a quick procedure after the egg shape is created that’s where things start falling apart 🤣. Bottom of transform tool there is relief clipart. Is there anything I have to do with this ? I keep getting error. The start z height must be higher than the last z slice height. 🤷‍♂️

Is this exclusive to Maker+ or can this be accomplished with Maker?
@Hinkleshop
@Hinkleshop Жыл бұрын
Maker users can do the same thing. Instead of drawing oval vectors, and using the Shape Editor to make them 3D, bring in the Sphere under Dishes in the clipart Library. Change the size to match what I did. Don't paste it. While it is still floating (blue). make copies using Block and Rotate Copy. That works with reliefs just like it does with vectors.

@Hinkleshop so when I do all the eggs and then go to paste the eggs disappear off the screen. If I tip the image in 3d u can see the egg impressions from the bottom but not in a top view. Why can't I see the egg shape in the top view. Can I change the 3d view color to something that might be easier to see? The image come in yellow on a yellow background.

as others have commented on not having maker plus just maker could you show the process with maker? I have done it using the spheres and wrote everything down but the dog ate my instructions. It wasn't that hard but you had to follow a certain procedure with the spheres and that's where I get stumped. For me to get maker plus with the Canadian dollar would be almost $70 a month. Could you just add the maker part to the end of the original video. I believe there would be a lot appreciative people Thanks Charlie
