Your tutorials are based on the fact that the listener knows nothing, so they are perfect, nothing is left to guess about, there are so many lessons given by others that are so far away you can't tell what they are doing, and they don't cover everything. Thank you so much Becky, you are a treasure.

11 Years ago this video was posted, but today in January 2024, I am watching and this is a fantastic explanation of why my needles are bent, why my applique bunches.... thank you SO MUCH for posting this video. You are really gifted at explaining this. Thank you for helping me and so many others, I'm sure.

I'm Panamanian and took a very basic workshop on how to make molas and the instructor didn't explain how to make the invisible stitches. She showed us a very short video of a Guna Indian sewing a mola but it was in real time and she was sewing fast, like the professional she is. My stitches are horrible so I decided to search on YT and I'm so glad I found your video. Thank you for teaching this and for the clear zoomed in videos showing the technique and the stitches. I'm saving this video as reference.

Wow! You are an amazing teacher! I love how you explain the details of how to hold the needle and how to make the perfect stitch. I also love that you not only tell people 'how' to do something, but you also tell them 'why' you do it that way. Your attention to detail is amazing. These are the kinds of things people really need to know in order to create beautiful art. I also really love how you use your hands to explain the needle's path. What a great visual! I'm thinking that every one who watches your video will think of your instructions every time they watch their own hands make each stitch. Very well done! And thank you so much for sharing your expertise with us. You have a great way of explaining things in such and easy to understand way. Very, very well done! Thank you for making this video.

I almost didn't watch this because I thought 21 minutes was too long. But the name "piece of cake" lured me in. At about the 5 minute mark I thought, "I gotta take a break, maybe I will finish it later." Later, when I got to the the 11 minute mark (and it seemed like about 2 minutes to get there), I thought, "this woman really knows her stuff!" By the end, I was glad I hung in there because I have a much fuller understanding of the structure of the stitch (and why it is or is not correct the way I have done it) but also some of the body mechanics that will or won't serve me over time (very important at my age!).

I've been sewing for fifty six years and no one has ever taught me the correct way to make a stitch of any kind. My mother only embroidered. Is this the stitch then that I would use to tack down the edges on a Cathedral window quilt? Or is there a better one for that? Still learning after all these years. Thank you so much for this excellent video!

In addition to this video, I have more videos showing how to prepare and sew applique. And there is a set of videos on visible mending of quilts. My advice is to watch them and pull the techniques that work for your quilt. Even if your sewing is different from the rest of the quilt, your repair will be wonderful because you did it!
