Before commenting you all should know how electricity is generated , 2nd in this video residual tension is created with low current output , forget about feeding your house with this or you will break all electronic equipment , first because the tension is not stable and secondly because the frequency is not stable either . Yes you can use a 20W light bulb and it will light up . Best way is to remove all the capacitors and use permanent N55 magnets on the core , more magnets = less rotation needed to achieve tension , more powerful magnets= more current output , this last part also depends on the wire thickness inside the engine , thin wire will heat up the generator as you ask for more current inside , if the wire is more thick then you may not enough wire turns to produce the desired voltage output , that is why the size of generators increase according to the desired current output . Other thing is what many brainwashed people show in many videos where they feed the engine with the generator output voltage , this will not work , as you place electric things connected to generator output voltage then you will have a cascade shutdown on the engine rpm and generator output voltage , control systems must be in place and an alternative power source must be used to check engine rpm and speed up in case rpm falls down so this cascade event do not start.

The 40uf(microfarad) capacitor is the excitation capacitor that is used to turn an induction motor into a generator. When the motor/generator is rotated faster than it's rated rpm, it generates electricity. Residual magnetism in the squirrel cage rotor induces a small alternating charge in the stator coil and sends it out to the excitation capacitor. The excitation capacitor connected in parallel with the stator coil acts as a feedback loop that continuously builds voltage in the coil until it fills the capacitor . The excess electricity that is generated is what powers anything that's plugged into it.

I just know how to hook stuff up ;) To the question! Induction generators do exist, and can be used in self operating mode once excited by an alternative source or capacitors and running at a higher rotation than the synchronous speed with negative slip. It charges the stator and gives power. This would be the theory. Ok, now to the real question. What is the guy doing wrong? What would he have to do to get it to work? If you are certain this specific video is fake, I will not argue. I'm just curious. Edit: Just saw it's a single phase motor :D

Actually, the capacitor is used to sustain a continuous magnetic field in the rotor. When a motor is turned, the charge in the capacitor is building and makes the rotor coil an electromagnet. And when the rotor is turned into an electromagnet it can generate electricity in the stator coil. This design is very smart and it comes from Nikola Tesla, it has some drawbacks though - You need to maintain the RPMs and it starts to generate when the capacitor has enough charge to sustain the magnetic field in the rotor. So this guy doesn't cheat :)
