The tape moving speed will not be constant. As the tape advances the diameter of the right tape spool will increase hence the tape would move faster. There is no pinch roller which revolves at a constant speed. This method is practically not correct. I expect feed back from the presenter of the clip.

At 1:50 mins You showed Mono head and told Left and Right. But actually its not stereo head... Stereo tape head has 4 pins..

Stero head can have 3 pins, 1 for left, 1 for right, the last 3 no. Pin can common for ground as well as Earth

Could do nice musical effects with the manual labor tho, decks usually don't have such fine speed control and playing in reverse is rare. It's always easier to just buy a used deck for normal playback D: good ones are anywhere between $100-500 probably even cheaper.
