To avoid masking, go to the layer with the glow effect and go to the Effects > Paint > Paint on Transparent should be on. This way the glow only effects the lines and not the footage

@@Alexis-hl1fs You need to make sure you have two videos. One video at the bottom with NO EFFECTS on it. Duplicate that video layer and use the top layer to do the painting. So you have two of the same video layers. top one with all the lines and effects. the bottom layer is the background with no effects.

For not using mask : - duplicate footage - draw on the top layer of your duplicate - after draw in composition window you have to find the effect "PAINT" with all your graphism, put the "Paint on transparent" in ON, it only keep your stroke visible - add glow and enjoy :)

For everyone asking why he isnt using an solid or adjustment layer, its becuase u cant see the clip if you try to draw on an solid layer (adjustment layers doesnt even work) But you just can duplicate the clip you want to draw on and paint it on the duplicated clip after you finished you go to the effect settings of the paint effect and turn transparency on, now you can add effects just to the lines.

when I click with the brush on the LAYER then the window changes to the COMPOSITION and my drawings only affect the composition. When I stop clicking on the Video in the Layer it shows me my layer video again and I cant see any difference. nothing changed. But then I realize I draw on the composition video !!!! @@HardcaseHD So try this. When you are on the main comp, lock the comp (top right) then double click the new layer and open it up. Try setting it to transparent, the when you are ready to view it in the main comp, take it out of transparent mode.

edit: Ok so i think i found a better way. do your brush painting like in the video, then create black solid on top, copy paste paint effect from video to black solid, delete on original video, set back solid to screen, put "glow" effect to back solid (u can adjust settings there then or even put more effects on it). no masking should be needed anymore. for a whole video, i hope this saves u guys lots of time. edit2: Aiji00 's method is much better imo. check it out in his comment here below!

I think i was wrong. I tried to do it with an adjustment layer, as with a solid. Both methods dont work. (well it works with the solid, but u cant see video so u dont know where u should paint so its useless ) Anyone else got it to work with a different method?

Can you do a tutorial of a woman putting on lipstick on both the top and bottom lip so that the lipstick moves along with the lip color. I was able to only do the top lip with a track matte and a solid under the track matte with a pen trim path method. But I was only able to do the top lip. Couldn't get the bottom lip to do the same thing. I'm not sure how to do it if I created another layer for the bottom lip. I guess I just want to learn how to do more than one layer both having a track matte and trim path applied to it. I hope this makes sense. Thank you!

I think Adobe Animate CC should be used to achieve clean lines as well..you can animate there by importing the video too.

MAX these guys use adobe animate CC and after effects. they animate frame by frame + a process called tweening and rotoscoping in animate cc where they draw a path for the animation to move..

Yes, on the right side, theres a panel with a lot of sections (Info, Audio, Effects & Presets, Libraries, etc) pick the one that says "Paint" and on the "duration" tab select the single frame option

Well that’s the thing. If I can recall, the paint section had only 4 options. I can check again tomorrow (I have the program at my high school computer) in about 20 hours. But I’m not entirely sure cause the program could’ve gone under some changes.
