Hint for you. Fold the piping bag down and to the outside a few inches before you fill it. Then pull it up before you twist it and fill your jars. Keeps it clean for your hands at the top of the bag. Awesome video! Thankyou!

Just wanted to say thanks a lot for this video. I've just made my first batch of this butter & it turned out great. I made a couple of substitutions - instead of the Jamaican oil & anise, I used coconut oil & bergamot. I also left it unwhipped. Gonna try a nighttime batch with lavender & sweet marjoram. Nice one, thanks again.

The BEST How to video I've seen so far. It's the proportion that is all over the place in recipes and videos. You are the ONLY one I have seen NAIL down what your proportions are. Great how to video from Blazing Beard. Pretty much the same process we use and he is very correct about watching your temperatures. High temps can ruin a batch of quality butters. My only tip would be to melt, mix, and whip in one container that way you don't lose so much product in container transfer. Other than that it was a "Blazing" video. Keep up the great work brother!

" Just whip it, whip it good." I wish I could grow a blazing beard but I have to remain beardless working in chemical and petroleum plants. I'm a beekeeper and have started making beard products for my son with beeswax. I also make a wood utensil rejuvenating paste for spoons, bowls, cutting boards that also works well on leather work shoes/boots to waterproof them. Most of the products used in beard products I also use in lip balm. I will definitely give this a try.

I make 2 oz of beard butter at a time as I need it by using 3 tablespoons of shea butter and 1 tablespoon of carrier oil and it works fantastic!! How many drops of essential oil would be appropriate for this much butter? Planning on using lemon EO. Thanks
@blazingbeardproducts2845
@blazingbeardproducts2845 Жыл бұрын
Roughly 60 drops, but if it's for yourself and not for sale, you are free to make it as strong or weak as you like. Lemon is a citrus and the scent will dissipate quickly at standard ratios. I'd start at 60 drops, and increase from there. If you go higher you may also want to reduce the carrier oil so as to maintain the consistency of the balm. Hope that helps.

@blazingbeardproducts2845
@blazingbeardproducts2845 3 жыл бұрын
No, you can use whatever scent oils you'd like. I love Bossmab stagecoach scent. You may want to reduce the amount if carrier oil and replace it with your bossman oil so the overall ratio of oils to butter is the same. Otherwise the scent would be diluted because the stagecoach scent is already mixed with carriers. Good luck, let me know how it turns out. Thanks for watching.

Your butters were nice and clear once melted, I wonder if I did something wrong as mine was cloudy 😞 I still went on with the rest of the steps and I'm now waiting for it to solidify in the fridge 😁
@blazingbeardproducts2845
@blazingbeardproducts2845 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Tomasz. Yes, your finished product should melt clear. Cloudiness can be caused by poor quality butters or using too much heat during the melting process or by adding your essential oils when the butters are still too hot. Test your butters by taking a small amount without heating and melt it in your hands. If it's clear your butter is OK. Make sure you use the double boiler method to melt the butters (Don't melt directly in pot as this could scorch and result in cloudy butter). Watch them closely and stir occasionally. When they are about 95% melted remove them from the heat, they will melt the rest of the way on their own (Stir). Let the melted butters sit for about 20-30 minutes before adding your carrier and essential oils, stir thoroughly to ensure they are well integrated. Most essential oils have a low flash point, if added in too soon, they will look cloudy when added. Make sure all your utensils are very clean and rinsed really well, soap residue can also make butter cloudy. I hope his helps.

@@blazingbeardproducts2845 thank you for the detailed reply, I think I may have added the other butters too soon but I'll wait and see what happens after it sets in the fridge. Maybe it's not all lost 😊 I do remember that the melted butters were barely warm to touch when I was adding the oils as I was very cautious with the temperature, maybe my spoon was dirty... If it fails I can learn from it and go buy some chemically safe stirring tools and containers

@@blazingbeardproducts2845 so I whipped the butter anyway. It came out great, the scent is there, it didn't evaporate so I assume that my butters were either not of the best quality or they didnt melt completely. What shocked me is how much it expanded after whipping, I've prepared jars for ~180ml and had to go and grab another 30ml jar to get the leftover bit there. The biggest issue I encountered was the "piping" part as it was melting quite quick, had to refrigerate the bag a couple of times. But, 10/10 will do it again and again. Thank you for the video!
