I made my first crappy beat using this tutorial, I need to obviously keep practicing and watching tutorials. But I wonder would taking a few keyboard lessons hurt, even though everybody who uses Reason says I don't need too.

Man I've owned REASON 12 for over 2 years and thi sis the first tutorial I've found that explains it and make sit so much easier! I couldn't get a down so I've been using REASON RACK in FL Studio, which is also a powerful way to use it in and of itself. Thanks so much,

hey Chris, thanks for this ! after buying quite a few DAWS I've decided that reason 12 is the one for me to start learning the music arts but I made the huge mistake of buying cubase 12 pro and now get so frustrated with it, especially setting up audio of all things, so will that DAW come in handy for reason 12 or could I sell Cubase 12 Pro and not miss any features that could be used in conjunction with reason ? I understand that's a personal thing but it was quite expensive and a major faux pas by me. Also I had reason plus for 2 months which has now lapsed and I purchased a reason 12 full perpetual license but there are reason rack extensions I want that were included in the plus version like friktion and complex 1 and I already bought the layers bundle. I'm going to follow your tutorials but I want to create some sort of orchestral rock with a touch of ambience genre of which probably doesn't exist atm haha. :)

Reason Rack in Cubase would be a good thing to try out! I can't say I have heard of that genre but I'd be willing to do some more videos on Complex and Friktion!

i notice when i start a beat like you did i notice at the top rack there is 4 racks like the echo and rv7000 (we didnt put there) do those need to be there or have to be there dont that change the sound of the beat we after?

Those are “send effects” they work with the mixer. You can delete them if you want and you can add send fx in later
