My sewing machine is going to be arrive on 8 June, 2020. It's a Janome so I decided to make something Japanese as a first sewing project. I made a Japanese knot bag to myself to keep bread fresh a few weeks ago with a sewing bad machine. Now a friend asked me to make one to her as well with my Janome. And than I would like to sew a Japanese apron to myself. Could you show how to make this type of apron? I'm an absolutely beginner but I could make cca 12 masks with your help and tutorial. Your patterns are really great, thank you, Sara. ♡♡♡ Greetings from Europe.

So excited for you to have your new Janome! And want to hear about the feedback how the machine is! My third one of Apron series is a cobbler apron but I can consider doing the Japanese Apron first! 😊 I love suggestions! Positive vibes from Canada🎶

Hi Sarah! What kind of fabric did you use for this apron? Thanks in advance for your reply😊

I used medium weight cotton linen blend for this project! 😊 I carry this fabric on my Etsy shop which you can find in the description.

I feel really stupid but I can't figure out how to lay the pattern pieces out on just 1 yard of fabric. Since the apron itself is 36" long they can't be cut from fabric below the main pattern piece as pictured. It does say in the video to use 1 yard of linen/cotton oxford fabric so I know there must be a way but I just don't see it.
@SewingTherapy Жыл бұрын
My fabric was 60” wide and it was enough to cut ties and pockets from the other side! In case you are using 42” wide fabric, you might need to cut one of the ties from another fabric!

How can we attach the straps if we already sewed the sides? My mom did the sides for me while I was away and didn’t tell her about the straps!! 🤣
@SewingTherapy3 жыл бұрын
Hahaha 😂 You can just finish one edge of strap and attach it or you can unpick the small area where the strap was supposed to be attached! I prefer the latter one! It will make less bulky side seams!
