Thank you, Mr. Requena, for explaining the concepts of purflings and bindings so clearly. This is much appreciated. I am in the process of building my first classical guitar, and have not found such a clear explanation as yours! Regards.

Interesting that you make your purflings the same height as the bindings (plus side purflings) so when you cut your slots it’s just one rectangular slot rather than a separate shelf for the smaller purflings as is done on steelstring guitars. Thanks

Thank you so much Pablo! May I ask you what type of glue you use in order to glue the different veneers? I have tried with Titebond 1 and 3 but every time I bend them (either using a bending iron or a bending machine), all the veneers got unglued and everything was really messy. I read that using polyurethane glue is better for bending bindings like this. What do you think about it? Thank you in advance for your availability!

Again a very interessant and helpful Video. Very good idea to operate with one routed channel only. One question about the guitar you have shown as example: You have made the body of pao ferro. I think it must be the same wood as so called Santos or Santos Rosewood/Santos Palisander. I have read and experienced myself that this wood ist very toxic and causes troubles for the skin an the respiatory tract. Didn´t you have any problems of this kind or how did you protect yourself?

Hey Pablo, what kind of glue do you recommend to avoid delamination while bending? Thanks for the amazing content!
@redkitekk
@redkitekk 4 жыл бұрын
Thales Barros i use Titebond original, it works well for me, but you are right about the amount of heat, you need to be careful not to overheat the strips. I also use a bending jig, that way if the glue starts to soften a little it isn’t a big problem as when the jig cools down all the strips remain in place and they don’t fall apart.

Titebond 3 seems to resist heat, and so does Gorilla clear poly glue, non foaming

Hi Pablo, is that the blue veneers that are sold by Madinter ? Years ago I bought blue veneers from Maderas Barber and it’s not the same blue, more like a dark royal blue. I like the one you show in this video.

So with a biding of 2.5mm and a purfling of 2mm your total one rebate route is 4.5mm x5mm. It does seem a bit aggressive and I assume totally goes through the sides. I will search for what you do for the inside for kerfing

I know it might seem a bit too much to cut only one big rebate to house both binding and purfling but it makes the job a lot easier and the internal kerning blocks are big enough to cope. Just in case you are interested I have a complete course on www.onlineguitarmakingcourse.com

@redkitekk
@redkitekk 3 жыл бұрын
