Thank you. I have made a couple patchwork skirts, but I just got a serger, so I appreciated seeing when and how you chose to serge and sew your edges.

Hi, I really liked your tutorial, please can you let us know how many Squares you used? Cheers Jules ✂️✂️

I plan on attempting this with a very very basic Singer, it's an antique "toy" model, great for beginners like me...but I do indeed plan on attempting this with my basic sewer lol. I may make one for my cat too.

I don’t have a server. Can it be done with a regular sewing machine?

So if i wanted it longer, i can add more rows, and fuller,by adding more squares? So then when sewing rows together i just match up and ruffle each row to the one its being sewed to, and ill get a fuller skirt? Thx tina

I love this. Let's say I borrow your idea and make some skirts similar. Do you mind if I sell them?
@ctrlaltcraft5 жыл бұрын
Haha! Go for it. It's so simple, no one could really patent it or anything crazy. Make and sell till your heart's content!

@@ctrlaltcraft thank you, you're sweet! I only ask because another KZbinr got her knicks all in a twist over the same thing.

It is awesome. Can we use scrap fabrics for the squares?
@leesie1565 жыл бұрын
I think as long as the scraps are of a reasonably similar fabric it should be fine. As in thickness/weight, woven/knit etc.
@ctrlaltcraft5 жыл бұрын
Hi! I am SO sorry! I'm not some 'big KZbinr' so I never think to check my notifications, since I rarely get anyone commenting. I feel terrible for missing your question! As Leesie has said, yes, provided the scraps are similar fabric it should be fine. Otherwise you may find the heavier fabrics pull on the lighter fabrics and create tears, especially in the wash!

@@ctrlaltcraft no problem! I recently finished a patchwork skirt with 170 different patterned fabrics in it. It took a while 😜

I would have sewn long vertical panels from waist to hem with an A shape and then sewn the panels together. In ths way it woud fall better, Also with a more limited colors it would look less like a quilt.
@ctrlaltcraft4 жыл бұрын
The vertical panels idea would be interesting to try! If I'm going for the A-shape look I'll keep it in mind. As for the colours, it's up to personal preference too 😁 if you end up making one to your specifications I would love to see it!

Can you tell me what make your serger is?
@ctrlaltcraft4 жыл бұрын
Sadly I can not. I bought it YEARS ago. Sorry :(
@twannasanders18028 ай бұрын
Love it but definitely not beginner friendly. For a visual learner, the video was rushed & could not see how you were laying the fabric out to serge it. It would help if you show more of how you were putting everything together. Other than that, love the choice of colors
