The little tunny, commonly known as a Bonito is one of the most common tuna in the Atlantic Ocean. They are powerful fighters, but not very good table fare. However, they do make for great bait! Bonito strips are one of the most common baits used by charter boat captains up and down the east coast of Florida. They are highly effective for targeting kingfish, wahoo, tuna, and dolphin. One of the most popular ways to troll bonito strips is using planers for deep baits to target kingfish and wahoo and flat line baits to target tuna and dolphin. This quick tips and techniques video was filmed after a day of live baiting with team Reel Synergy. We managed to catch a couple of bonito that day and Captain Chip Sheehan demonstrated how he slabs out the bonito and makes strips out of them for his charter fishing trips out of Boynton Inlet.
